Washington (CNN) -- Nearly 7 in 10 Americans are angry at the direction the country is headed and 53% of Americans disapprove of President Barack Obama's job performance, two troubling signs for Democrats one week before the midterm elections, a new CNN/ORC International Poll shows.

Democrats are battling to try and save the Senate majority, while hoping to prevent more losses in the House, which the GOP controls by a 234 to 201 margin.

In the Senate, Republicans need a net gain of six seats, and several state polls in the past month of contested races show that Democrats are in danger of losing control of the majority, and thus Congress. Currently, Democrats control the Senate by a 55-45 margin with two of those seats held by independents that align themselves politically with Democrats.

Getting mad means they are beginning to care. That can have lasting effects even if the elections get stolen this time around.

Not here in Minnesota. The low-information voters in this stupid state are going to re-elect Al Franken, Mark Dayton and Keith (PBUH) Ellison.

Do you know that Ellison has not and will not need to air ONE campaign ad!

I wonder if the massive voter fraud keeping the senate in democrat and Obama control will really mad.

I don’t know. Can’t imagine why it’s even close.

Of course I know McConnell in charge doesn’t change much in the way of the senate being under Obama’s control.

But they don’t know that.

Christie caved in the other day, screaming mafia wise guy fashion that he wasn’t caving in. Brave Sir Robin.

Shows what the GOP typically does when facing up to him.

That must be why it’s even a contest.

"Ellison"

I would bet that's the case in just about every overwhelmingly, majority black district. In many Pubbies probably don't even bother to run a candidate.

I’ve been angry since a stupid set ov voters put Obama in office 2008 and REALLY angry since another even more stupid set of voters put him back into office in 2012 . Just unbelievable . I have almost lost all faith in the voters of this nation to be able to ‘do the right thing’ ever since .
Damn fools and ignoramuses

There is no “angry” question in the poll. Q14 is “satisfied, dissatified” with direction fo the country, 74% dissatisfied. But, more people would vote DEM than GOP, same poll, every generic question relating to party affiliation/performance.

Oops, turn the page, Q15 is the “angry” question. Q16 is a “scared” question.

Minnesota is way beyond the LIV paradigm. They are quite far left.

If a CNN poll says 53% disapprove of BamBam, the real number is about 83%.

Best possible outcome: Every GOP candidate except Mitch wins. New senate majority and new majority leader.
