Generally left-leaning ice-cream company Ben and Jerry’s has refused to rename its “Hazed and Confused” hazelnut ice-cream flavor despite cries from activists that it’s insensitive to hazing victims.
“It didn’t make sense for us to change the name,” Ben and Jerry’s spokesman Sean Greenwood told Bloomberg. “We named it after a pop-culture reference.”
Greenwood said the company did not see anything about the flavor name that “even inferred” [sic] hazing.
But that’s not how Lianna and Brian Kowiak of Tampa feel, who say they were “shocked” and “dismayed” to see an ice-cream flavor with that name.
“The company completely avoided and didn’t take into consideration what are the unintentional implications of this chosen name,” Brian said.
Lianne and Brian had a son, Harrison, die of a head injury during a fraternity “hell week” in 2008.
Anti-hazing activist Hank Nuwer of StopHazing.org also criticized the flavor and pressed people to contact the company and complain.
Greenwood said Internet responses to the flavor name were mostly positive.
He needs to have his ass kicked.

I’ve hated Ben & Jerry’s since I saw a 60 Minutes segment on them in the 1980s when they played up what good Lib Socialists they were. I have never eaten their Communist-cause funding ice cream since then — not even one spoon full. I’m glad they are getting attacked by this PC activist group. I hope they fight each other tooth and nail and have to run up big legal bills or at least get really bad publicity.

I’ve been Hazed and Confused for so long it’s not true ....
wanted some ice cream, never bargained for you ...
I quit the hazed activist group because they wouldn’t stop sending unsolicitated mail.
I am pretty sure that little ole Ben and Jerry’s is now owned by one of the big mega-companies now.
Since Unilever owns B&J, I enjoy their ice cream at times. I still eat Breyers, another Unilever brand.
At what point in this overly totalitarian PC society, will someone draw the line and say , “Stop. No more!”? I mean this PC crap and the “I’m offended” whine has been out of control for years and it is getting more ridiculous as time goes by.
For example, imagine my wife and I have a grown son who is a drug addict and has screwed his life up royally even though we love him and hope he eventually gets his shit together. But guess what? His name is Ben. What if my wife and I demanded Ben and Jerry’s product name be changed because we were offended by “Ben” because it reminds us of our loser son? Everyone would say that was preposterous. Why? Because it is.
And maybe no one noticed that the “o” in the word “CORE” on the carton looks like the barrel end of a gun. I’m offended. They need to change it because I can’t sleep at night because I have nightmares about looking down the barrel of a gun and being killed.
Now all of this has been written as extreme sarcasm to make a point. But it points out how stupid people can be about things in a free society that can be entirely different from what they believe or would like it to be. The world is not going to change just for their fragile egos or low self-esteem. The world needs to slow down enough for these people to jump off and leave the rest of us the hell alone. Enough already.
Comrades Ben and Jerry thought they were being clever with “Dazed and Confused” but committed the lefty felony of Insensitivity.
Some of their fellow travelers recalled pledge paddles & ‘square meals’ so they “hassled” B&J ... I don’t see any down side. Bummer.
Notice that hazing is more and more involving homo rape. These two old queens approve.
