Ever had your credit card turned down at a fancy restaurant? President Obama can commiserate.
Speaking to workers at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington on Friday, he recalled a moment last month when, at the end of a dinner out in New York City, his plastic was declined.
"I guess I don't use it enough, so they thought there was some fraud going on," he said. "Luckily, Michelle had hers. I was trying to explain to the waitress that I've really been paying my bills."

Happened to me two weeks ago.
Pulled out abother card, no problem.
Went to Nordstrom and pulled out the declined card.
Went through no problem.
Stuff haplens.

Not possible that he uses a personal cc. He is POTUS. I can only imagine the security issues.
I agree. And I also wonder if they would eat out, esp. without shutting down 50 sq. miles and cause havoc. He wouldn’t trust anyone with food. He might have a stooge taste test.
Banks are doing this a lot these days, mostly because they're on the hook for fraudulent activity. I travel frequently as well and I always call my bank to let them know where I'm going.
On the other hand some thief called them and persuaded them to change our internet password, issue a new card in a name not ours and send it to Houston where we do not live. We were lucky to catch it before she got the card. Seriously not impressed with their "security."

I believe what Obama says is possible. I get crazy random rejections of my credit card all the time if their fraud algorithm trips. It only gets reenabled if I contact the bank.
Yeah maybe if you travel overseas or something. But someone who lives in DC travels to NYC and card is rejected for a restaurant meal? No rationale reason for that. Nor is inactivity. If an algorithm triggered the rejection it is a crappy algorithm and the person should get a better credit card.
It is more likely Obama was over his limit and had not paid his bill. Obama ALWAYS blames someone else.
Yes, I'm pretty sure President Obama is hardly broke. I'm actually surprised he was asked to pay his bill.
