Obfuscation? Or just plain lying? Doctors on TV...
10-12-2014 | Self-vanity

Posted on 10/12/2014 4:10:10 PM PDT by mtrott

So, I just saw on CNN yet another medical "expert", this time a lady, who continues, when asked about a "travel ban" for East Africa, to state emphatically that a ban will not prevent people infected with Ebola from existing in the US with Ebola. She went on to say that, as a result of a travel ban, we would not be able to stamp out Ebola in East Africa.

Pray tell, have I completely lost all remnants of any clear thinking, or is this complete nonsense? First of all, medical "experts" continue to conflate a travel ban with our inability to help in Africa, as though the only way medical assistance could get there is on commercial airliners. Clearly, military transports could be used to fly medical personnel and supplies in and out, and, most importantly, under controlled circumstances.

Also, why do the "experts" on TV continue to claim that a travel ban would not prevent people with Ebola from entering the US? Just in the last hours, it has been reported that in Boston a man who was recently in Liberia was being taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Why is there no explanation of what flight path this patient took to end up in the US? Was this a direct flight, and, if not, what was the path? This is exceedingly frustrating and about to drive me crazy.

It is complete nonsense. All visas. An be canceled and all those with passports from the hot zone can be denied access to any connecting flight to the US. All US passport holders can be quarantined for 30 days before returning.

And none of that would in any way limit military flights full of equipment and supplies and medical charters full of personnel. It is BS of the highest order.

Pretty sure they don’t want a cure for Ebola.

Pretty sure they want Ebola to cure humanity.

Or maybe it's a way to spread Obamacare? So they can claim how well it works during a "crisis"

Maybe Ebola is just a way to ultimately stop global, man-made warming!

It’s complete PC nonsense.

PC is so convoluted, practitioners often arrive at the opposite thought of what is so obviously true.

No, you're not going crazy. There's real worry, here, on the eve of an election, of an Ebola no-confidence vote, by women counted upon to stay with the Democrat hurd. Most of the medical professionals are truly confident in what their colleagues are telling one another.

The idea of losing face, as authorities and as "enlightened" liberal Democrats has led them all along not so much to entertain other opinions but to allow that there are other opinions.

Denial is very strong, and their confidence will need to be shaken more deeply.

Thus, the false dichotomy of a Travel Ban amounting to a blockade, when no one has suggested such a thing even once.

They even determined the name for the issue, "travel ban," which is not being suggested. All anyone wants is a logical end to commercial travel, to business as usual.

If, or when, the truth about Ebola, and perhaps more likely, EV-D68, emerges, they will be required to secure our borders because the People will require it. But they do not want that to happen until after the election.

Lovely, ignorant and selfish people, are they not?

Correct, Ebola will stop man-made anything, including global warming.

It’s propaganda. It makes no sense to say that a travel ban would prevent health care workers from leaving. Obviously they could be and would be granted exceptions. They shouldn’t be traveling by general aviation anyway.

Thirty years ago a politician in Niagara Falls claimed that the output from the factories on the Niagara river was not contaminating the water.

A local newsperson produced a glass of water from downstream and asked the pol to drink it. That was the end of that argument.

People who claim Ebola isn’t a problem should go join a few folks suffering from the disease to prove their point.

This nation should be a LOT more conservative once Ebola has run its course. I’m just glad I got out of the big city a few months ago.

A travel ban from the West African countries should be enacted by all governments, not just the US !! Don’t think there are any direct flights from Liberia and other surrounding countries to US... don’t they all connect in Europe? It’s a ridiculous, dangerous argument they are making.
Since the incubation is up to 3 weeks, if you believe the CDC...and that is a stretch... taking a temperature of those entering the US is of minimal help. During the incubation period they won’t be febrile...they travel... spread out to various US locations, and one to three weeks later they become infections. Too late then Charlie !!
The cost of treating one Ebola patient will be in the high 6 figures at least. I believe Dallas Preby. had to shut down one entire ICU and reports are patients are now avoiding that hospital out of fear of contamination. And a nurse now has it ... so what does that say about transmissibility and the ability of the CDC to say protective measures are effective. And who doesn’t think the physicians and nurses in Liberia who have been infected and some died, didn’t take all necessary precautions? No, there is too much the epidemiologists and infectious disease folks don’t know about this virus, and their assurances are rather empty at this point.
Sorry about the RANT... and don’t get me started on the infections pouring across our Southern border aboard the illegals and spreading throughout the US!! This my FR friends is the tip of the iceberg and may eventually make the 1919 flu pandemic look small by comparison!
(dismounting soap box now)

Stay on your soapbox, FRiend. :-)

The fundamental problem is:

1. The people in charge don’t know what they’re doing but think they do (arrogance).

2. When there is a problem they are unable to admit they were wrong (false pride).

3. They hold their incorrect positions to the peril of all (incompetence).

If they were doing their jobs they would protect the US. They are incapable of doing their jobs.

Bozos all. Pathetic.

I think the people in charge know limited amounts about the problem but won’t admit to their lack of knowledge and they are making a grave error in judgement by downplaying the danger of this epidemic world-wide and specifically in the US. They (the politicians and bought-off medical “experts” are trying to avoid a panic among the populace.

This has been successfully been done before... reference: TWA 800
If they had told the truth about the nature of that explosion, perhaps Americans would have limited travel at the time and there would have been temporary negative effects on global economy, but measures to avoid future disasters like Lockerbie and 911 might have been employed and the deaths of thousands avoided. Our leaders wouldn’t admit terrorism when it struck... and that continues with the BS about “work-place violence” rather than terrorism as in Ft. Hood and Oklahoma. We will pay for our government’s complacency if not complicity.

Of course there is a trade-off between the damage that could be done by a panic and the damage that could be done by the disease. Their job is to manage the balance appropriately.

However, we are coming up on an election and these clowns have already demonstrated their priorities (e.g. Benghazi).

As you said, our welfare ain’t the priority.
