Latina Judge Strikes Down TX Voter ID, Blasts History of 'Discrimination'

BY SANDRA LILLEY

A Texas-born and raised Latina federal judge, Nelva Gonzalez Ramos, did not just block a Republican-sponsored state voter ID law, she equated it to laws enacted by states after slavery was abolished to ensure blacks could not vote.

"The Court holds that SB 14 creates an unconstitutional burden on the right to vote, has an impermissible discriminatory effect against Hispanics and African-Americans, and was imposed with an unconstitutional discriminatory purpose," Gonzalez Ramos stated in her lengthy ruling issued Thursday. "The Court further holds that SB 14 constitutes an unconstitutional poll tax."

After slaves were freed and black Americans began to win elected office, laws requiring black Americans to pay a fee to vote or to pass literacy tests began to be enacted. Similar tactics were used in the Southwest against Mexican Americans.

Texas' strict voter ID law, passed by the Republican-led Legislature in 2011, only accepts certain forms of photo ID and does not allow other commonly used ones. It does not allow college student photo IDs, for example, but allows gun permits as identification.

The law would have made it extremely difficult for Texas Latinos such as 18-year-old twins Nicole and Victoria Rodriguez to vote, as groups argued in 2013. The young women at the time did not have driver's licenses since their parents could not afford car insurance, yet they had valid Texas birth certificates, high school IDs and Social Security identification.

Still, they would not have been allowed to vote unless they traveled to a state office to get a special photo ID issued by the Department of Public Safety. Voting experts have pointed out the long distances and restricted hours of these state offices,..

What is a latina judge? Is she somewhere in latin america? If I was a judge would I be a half italian half irish judge? I have a cousin who is a Supreme Court judge in Delaware. He is not called an irish judge.
I can’t take any more of this.
Good night.

We did that! They can get a free ID. I bet they can all whip out ID if needed to get a beer or on a plane.

This local judge will be overturned by Wednesday next week

Huh? Nothing will happen before the election. This judge is anti-white and she wants massive voter fraud.

This evil B*tch wants our Republic as founded to be destroyed.

Ping me if this ruling is reversed.

“pass literacy tests”

An excellent idea.

Or laws requiring you to score higher than a minimum IQ (e.g., 95), which would disenfranchise a large % of Dim voters, as well as a law requiring you to be a taxpayer unless retired, which would disenfranchise a large part of the remaining Dim base.

I like it.

So, what would happen if the state told this federal judge we do not recognize your jurisdiction in this matter and just ignored the ruling?

How many of these people who couldn’t possibly make it to an office to get a photo ID have no problem getting to the mall to buy the latest fashion? How do they get to a grocery store? A doctor’s office? Anywhere?

Because “Hispanics and African-Americans” are too stupid to find legal IDs? Sounds racist to me, to have such a low estimation of Hispanics and African-Americans ...

Commies would do this. The other faction - probably NEVER. Does that not tell y'all something.

The solution is simple: Death sentences for voter fraud.

I would support this.

Is it not possible to photograph them when they vote, and create the ID on the spot. check them against face recognition software after the vote, and arrest them if they voted twice?

You do understand, don’t you, that this Agendanista could ONLY be considered by the US Senate for confirmation because NEITHER Kay Baily Hutchison nor John Cornyn objected to her consideration? They had the option of exercising their right to NOT approve her as part of their “home state” rights in the US Senate.

Ted Cruz (Kay Bailey Hutchison’s replacement in the Senate) would never allow such an appointment for a US Judge for Texas.

The technology is available. I can’t see it flying if the ID isn’t okay.

I have no idea what the legal questions would involve, however if the state of Texas, issues the identification, they could do issue it at a polling place, just as well as a state office, then allow whomever to vote, but issue that vote an (*) pending approval by the state.

I say call their bluff, and lets see how many of these so call discrimination cases actually qualify to vote.
