Of course that’s my first instinct. I’m not saying he did anything wrong. But there are going to be conflicting versions of the same story. There always are. I still can’t believe the cops bought what the car thief was telling them. Whoever made the decision to hit that house should be fired, or worse.
Im not saying he did anything wrong. But there are going to be conflicting versions of the same story. The main issue will be if the cops announced themselves. Or, because he had been victimized in the past, if Hooks believed that they were cops even if he DID hear them announce themsleves. The warrant process should also be explored diligently.
The judges are the problem. No warrant, no raid. Make the JBT knock on the door.
Anyone in my back yard with guns is a trespassing criminal regardless of uniform, or warrant. The ONLY way to serve a warrant should be to knock and ask nicely. Period. Until the jackbooted Nazi thugs that that through their heads there will be shootings. Sadly this many did not do a better job defending his home.
Murder under the color of law should have a HARSHER sentence, not a lesser one.
What does the conflicting version say?
No it isn't. It foes far beyond what the government says here.
The story indicates the dead homeowners wife yelled at her husband that there were people in the yard wearing camouflage and had guns.
Even if they did announce it doesn't mean zip. Did the husband even hear the cops? Was he listening to something using head phones? Could he hear them over his wife who was yelling at him....Was he in a back room at the time and unable to hear? Did dead homeowner grandfather have hearing issues?
Ya see how these violent little commando adventures put on by government can go southbound? Happens all the time, and many folks are getting a belly full of it.
Mainly that the cops announced themselves repeatedly. Doesn’t reconcile the fact that the warrant should never have been issued in the first place.
Says who, the cops?
“Mainly that the cops announced themselves repeatedly. Doesnt reconcile the fact that the warrant should never have been issued in the first place.”
Sorry, but events don’t match that claim. And that is just the cop’s claim. First, a lot of these “We identified” events occurred far too fast to allow reaction time. That is the whole point of a raid. “Police! BANG BANG BANG” all inside a second.
Second, this guy was clean as a whistle. We’re talking sitcom life here. As one person pointed out,
What? You think this totally innocent guy suddenly decided to end it all in a blaze of glory, with his family backstopping police rounds, all for nothing?
He had no clue this was cops. That is the only sensible conclusion. And cops have been caught lying about having identified themselves before. A lot of them make it clear that they want to maintain ‘tactical surprise’, so don’t ID themselves. This is the result of that mentality. Confusion and innocent people killed. They wanted him confused and shocked, and they succeeded.
Re: Claire Wolfe’s famous question.
It’s time.
