Pat Roberts asserts Va. home 'principal residence' in documents
The Topeka Capital Journal ^ | September 24, 2014 | Tim Carpenter

U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts put a signature to documents associated with the mortgage on a Virginia residence that identify the Fairfax County home as “principal residence” of the three-term incumbent Republican.

The re-election campaign of the Kansan has been awash in controversy about whether his ownership of a duplex in Dodge City, which is rented out, and his payment of about $300 a month for a room in a Dodge City supporter's home satisfied legal requirements for public office.

On Wednesday, records surfaced that Roberts signed a Deed of Trust in 1997 and 2003 for property owned in Alexandria, Va., with his wife, Franki, that contained text about a principal residence.

The documents, which include a series of covenants, required Roberts to attest the couple within 60 days of executing the document “shall continue to occupy the property as borrower’s principal residence for at least one year after the date of occupancy.”

It would have still been a three man race.

Why the heck would you say that? I find zero basis for such an assumption, Ortman was the rats plan for victory prior to the outcome of the GOP primary.

“This is hardly news. Many Congressman have the exact same setups. It is no reason to replace him with a Leftist.”

What is so very very sad about that comment is how it so closely resembles the whining excuses which come from clueless liberal minded criminals when they have finally been hauled before a criminal court judge to face the miserable consequences of their criminal behavior. They have nothing but, but, but, but, your honor excuses for why they think they should be immune from punishment richly deserved simply because someone else besides them is getting away with the same criminal behavior. They just don’t get the fundamental concept that greed is greed and doing wrong may ultimately have catastrophic consequences.

In the case with Sen. Roberts, he got greedy over personal issues which are now ridiculously trivial in comparison to the political consequences being faced by his failure to protect his Senate seat and vote. Now he faces personal consequences and the Republican voters face consequences for their failure these past decades to hold Roberts accountable for his betrayal of his own integrity and betrayal of trustworthiness of the electorate he represents. There have been innumerable opportunities for Roberts, his family, his supporters, and the GOP to remedy this long looming problem with greed before it could result in devastating consequences to us all.

Sen. Roberts could have and should have never succumbed to greed and claimed any real property other than a Kansas location as his primary residence and domicile. Having already done so, Sen. Roberts should have remedied the problem long before this election arose, but he did not. Sen. Robert’s family and friends should have insisted that Sen. Roberts abandon the greed before the election, perhaps they did not. Sen. Roberts’ political donors should have if necessary helped Sen. Roberts to comply with the residency requirement with home financing in a lawful fashion, but they did not. Instead, we are here in the final days before an election highly critical to the safety of millions of people in the United States and more throughout the world with a GOP candidate whose petty personal greed has forfeited his integrity, reputation, trustworthiness, and power to contribute to achieving a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate.

When will the people who purport to being political conservative start walking the talk and hold their would be political representatives strictly accountable for betraying the fundamental conservative principles of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness long before circumstances reach a political crisis that can compromise their own integrity in an election?

” I don’t give a flip if he lives on the moon.”

It’s that kind of attitude which condoned Roberts’ betrayal of his own integrity to the point where he can no longer be of such help to other veterans in critical need of help. Sen. Roberts and the people who need his help would have been much better off had his supporters insisted upon his strict compliance with his obligations when it counted, long before the current election.

Kansas hasn’t elected a RAT senator since the 1930’s. Roberts’ unwillingness to debate Dr. Wolf prior to the primaries was a real turn off for those of us who have voted for Roberts. Orman will caucus with the RATS and is not an independent. I will hold my nose and vote for Roberts, just like I did for McCain. It won’t be a vote for Roberts, but rather a vote against Orman.

I don’t get your attitude, at all. Pat Roberts is a good man and isn’t too busy to personally be involved and help out folks here in KANSAS, WHERE I LIVE AND VOTE. Don’t worry he will win. Once all the bs is known about what’s his name and his shenanigans and associations with the criminal element becomes common knowledge.

He is tainted by far worse than what you’re so concerned about and KANSAS will stick with Pat. Mark my words and the date I said it. This Kansas is voting for Pat Roberts, not that other dishonest DEMOCRAT who can’t even own up to what he truly believes. You can’t hide from your past, your associations or your real intent.

I know this sounds legalistic and it won't impress voters, but this is not a declaration of legal domicile. This is a very common provision and its purpose is to insure that the borrower will actually live in the house because a residential loan is being made and not a commercial loan.

You're absolutely right but a lynch mob (including the one on FR) doesn't want to hear it.

Not just elect a pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, liberal Democrat over a conservative Republican—elect him to a *six-year term*. Even if it doesn’t cost the GOP the Senate this November, it might after 2016 or even 2018. No one who calls himself a conservative possibly could vote for that liberal piece of shite over Roberts.

>> But the GOP insisted on nominating him <<

Because the self-appointed Kansas Tea Party "leaders" insisted on running: 1) a clueless amateur they hadn't vetted 2) a candidate whose resume consisted solely of talking endlessly about how he's "Obama's conservative cousin", and 3) pretending he was U.S. Senate material because he's "not Pat Roberts". If that guy had been the nominee, he'd be behind by DOUBLE digits now.

>> GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E GOP-E Broken record. <<

For at least several months, Mark Levin fanboys have been using the term "GOP-E!!!" the way Obama supporters use the term "racist". ANY disagreement with them whatsoever, or failure to blindly do whatever they want, makes you "GOP-E!!", no matter how many times you've opposed Republican establishment candidates. Dare question why a "Tea Party" Congressman is voting with Hamas? Why, you must be GOP-E!!!! Don't support a "Tea Party" candidate who is pro-gay marriage over a more conservative incumbent? Why, you're part of the GOP-E!!!, etc. etc.

It's interesting irony. People who opposed Roberts in the primary constantly screamed that anyone who disagreed with them was supporting the "liberal establishment". But now we have proof that the ONLY ones cheerleading for the liberal establishment are the Roberts haters.

We're supporting one of Ted Cruz's most reliable allies for re-election while many of them are openly hoping a socialist Democrat Harry Reid supporter wins. How are their tactics any different than what Dede Scozzafava and Mike Castle supporters did after their RINO lost the primary? Scozzafava, Castle, and Wolf supporters all concluded that if they couldn't beat a proven conservative in the primary, they'd endorse the liberal Democrat backed candidate in the general election out of spite. That would "teach the GOP a lesson" about daring to reject their hand-picked choice.

>> I’m not whining about anything. I’m simply remarking on a conservative (you, presumably) who considers it “garbage” that a 3-term Senator doesn’t even live in the state he “represents.” I guess Algore’s phony Tennessee farm photos were okay by you, too. <<

And I'm simply noting that 90% of the people who consider it treasonous for Roberts to live in Virginia had absolutely no problems whatsoever when self-proclaimed "Tea Party" savior and Virginia Liz Cheney did it and decided she wanted to "represent" Wyoming (a state she hadn't lived in since she was 12... 30 years ago ago). She decided to carpetbag in Wyoming and the Levin crowd went into orgasms about her candidacy and screamed "GOP-E!!!" at anyone who endorsed the incumbent who actually lived in Wyoming.

Interesting double standards.

It’s only a problem for those who respect the law and have ethical standards. Thus the problem impacts Landreau to a much lesser degree, as her constituents do not care.

>> he’s underwater in a solid Red State like Kansas <<

The only way Kansas is going to become a "Red State" is if the marxist Greg Orman wins.

Part of the reason we're behind is because so many conservatives adapt the left's language like "Red State". That's conceding defeat before the battle begins. You don't see lefties doing the reverse and using conservative terminology like calling Obama "zero".

And yet knowing all that and only six weeks from the election Roberts is behind in the polls. What other explanation can there be but the fact that Roberts is a career, establishment GOP chair-warmer who is out of touch with the electorate?

That Kansas RINOs are supporting the pro-abortion, pro-gay-agenda, anti-free-speech, socialist Democrat Orman over the conservative Republican Roberts, and that many Kansas conservatives have been deluded into either sitting the election out or supporting a liberal candidate over the conservative incumbent.

WOW

So unless this story is bull, Wolfy boy will endorse Orman if Orman “promises” to caucus with the GOP (as if his word means anything)?

After *supposedly* running to Roberts’ right in the primary he would support someone who is unquestionably FAR to Roberts’ left?

Billyboy brings up Dede Scuzzobama, it would be exactly the same thing. RINO backs rat out of spite.

Could it be the little SOB was a just a stalking horse for the rats/RINOs/his cuz Obama all along, a scumbag with a fake “tea party” mask just like Vance McCallister? What a farce.

Let’s have a roll call, all freepers in favor of the pro-fag, pro-abortion, pro-gun control democrat Greg Orman because he’s “not a career politician” and “lives in Kansas”, raise your hand. We have a clown car waiting to take you to DU, where you belong.

Since we have a few fools openly supporting pro-partial birth abortion ,career politician, democrat Princess, Alison Grimes in Kentucky, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to see they also back “Independent” (LOL) Greg Orman. Cause a friggin lib is much better a Republican who’s “been there too long” right? Disgusting.
