It was the salute seen around the world.
President Obama was caught on video saluting Marines with a coffee cup in his hand. Just call him Cappuccino-in-Chief.
The White House posted video to its Instagram account and soon unleashed a torrent of outrage. The Washington Times dubbed the moment Semper Latte.
Im surprised he didnt order the Marines to fetch him cream and sugar.
Before lunchtime liberals had unearthed a photograph purportedly showing former President Bush saluting with a dog in his arms.

I’d be willing to hire out to the Federal government as a contractor to teach Federal employees, like Obama, how to transfer a cup from one hand to the other. I could put on a workshop for twenty people for $20,000 a pop.
Yeah, obvious
There used to be a difference of opinion as to whether the President should return military salutes, and I recall reading that, at one time, Republican Presidents would salute and Democrats wouldn't, but in modern times all Presidents return salutes. (I think it was JFK who started the practice for Democrats.)

I sure wish Ann Dunham used birth control. Or could afford a condom.
Ditto.....
She should have, that is for sure
There’s no doubt in my mind that this disrespectful “salute” was premeditated. Furthermore, I think the scurrilous bastard wracked his drug-scorched brain for some time to come up with a new way to show his contempt for our Country, our flag and our military who protects us all.
This is a typical distraction tactic. Bush salute is respectful and his right hand is doing nothing but saluting. It is hardly offensive like Obama’s. Nice try though.
News flash! When the Obungas travel, the mutt flies on a separate airplane. Does THAT provide a clue?
>>Wouldnt it been more convenient for him to hold the cup in his left hand?
Muslims don’t eat or drink with their left hand. He saves that hand for his “bathhouse handshake”.
I agree. I believe President Reagan started this tradition. I am sure he believed it was a way of honoring military personnel, but every President from Harry Truman to Jimmy Carter served and none saluted. Eons ago I went to a Jesuit military HS. When you would report to the Headmaster, a Jesuit, you would salute and wait for a nod of recognition. When you reported to the Prof, of Mil. Sci. you would salute and await the salute to be returned. This is not a defense of Barky. His action yesterday was disgraceful.
read up on Reagan and how he handled it

They’d pay it. It’s only OPM.
Couldn’t he have put the coffee in one hand and saluted with the other or perhaps given the coffee to the First Lady and taken it back after saluting? After six years in the White House, he should have known better.
I realize that Reagan started the tradition but if I were president I think I would go with a handshake. I don’t have military experience and couldn’t give a proper salute to save my life. The president is supposed to be a civilian leader of the nation with certain authority over the military.
When it comes down to it, I don’t care how a president greets our military as long as its done with respect.
