Perry basically sad we need handouts to illegals because the feds didn’t do it
Well duh!...but federal law says these same students have to be taught in their native language at taxpayer expense in public schools, K-12.
They are at least paying tuition is they go to college and not at the expense of taxpayers.
Pandering puke that he is.
How about deportation? That’s a pretty sensible alternative to me.
-———————**
A sensible alternative for sure. But remember this isn’t a State of Texas issue but
rather a US Congress issue. Until they step up to the plate and put in place a
process to do so we are surrounded by the incoming. Texas at one point in time made
it unlawful to pay for any schooling of illegals. That was wipe out by the SCOTUS in
1982. States have to deal with what the Feds have allowed to happen.
Booshies = Shamnesty
Why do they need college to do the jobs Americans won’t do? (cough cough)
That excuse for letting them stay outdated?
Hell no, no in State tuition for illegals, undocumented, unauthorized or whatever you want to call them.
To allow that while not doing so for a citizen that wants to go to a school in another State is ludicrous.
Information for the thread.

Currently, at least 18 states have provisions allowing for in-state tuition rates for
undocumented students. Sixteen statesCalifornia, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida,
Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York,
Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washingtonextend in-state tuition rates to undocumented students
through state legislation. Two statesOklahoma and Rhode Islandallow in-state tuition
rates to undocumented students through Board of Regents decisions. In 2013, the University
of Hawaii’s Board of Regents and the University of Michigan’s Board of Regents
adopted similar policies for undocumented students to access in-state tuition at those
institutions. In April 2014, Virginia’s attorney general started granting in-state tuition
to those covered under the federal Defferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
At least five statesCalifornia, Minnesota, New Mexico, Texas and Washingtoncurrently
allow undocumented students to receive state financial aid.
Three statesArizona, Georgia and Indianaspecifically prohibit in-state tuition rates
for undocumented students, and two statesAlabama and South Carolina prohibit undocumented
students from enrolling at any public postsecondary institution.
See how insidious is their propaganda! Even I am beginning to pick it up!
Do you think the State or the Governor has any authority to deport anyone?
All property owners pay for public schools in Texas. And in turn so do all renters.
I live in one of the higher taxed Counties, have a pretty nice place with property tax just under $2000. You must live pretty high on the hog to pay $6K+............
Where the problem?
I think the legislative argument was that these undocumented student’s parents had paid Texas taxes the same as any other Texas resident, unless they found some way to no pay property taxes (yes renters pay property school tax through their landlord), whereas the person from India had paid no Texas taxes.
