Anthony Johnson was a former indentured servant who prospered sufficiently after he completed his term of indenture that he acquired indentured servants himself. He was apparently a cruel master, as his servants ran away before their term was completed, one of whom was John Casor. Johnson went to court, suing for the lost labor he was owed due to Casor running away. Johnson won, the result of which was making Casor a servant for life. This marked the beginning of chattel slavery in the British North American colonies. So, yes, the first owner of a black African slave in North America was black himself.
seeing as slavery has been out of exisetnce in america for over a 150 years it has about as much relevence to what happened in Ferguson as horse drawn carriages.
Slavery existed in the New World before the Spanish arrived, among the Indian tribes.
Slavery had nothing to do with the lack of morals, respect for authority, and decent humanity that this POS failed to get while being raised by other PsOS with the same issues.
What a load of manure! Was this a press release from the CPUSA?
sad isn’t it that many blacks and kids today have no idea about history.
Zimmerman did not murder Trayvon. He stopped Trayvon from kill him. Typical of the Black way of thinking.
Hmmmm...wonder why there are such targets? Could it be statistically there is that is where the crime problem exists?
Yes, this must absolutely be true.
My father and all the holocaust survivors in my family and the others I’ve known all would have at one time been thrilled to be able to have been precious commodities on another man’s farm rather than being vermin their government tried to exterminate (the Nazis’ official word).
Their days of horror were in their own lifetimes, not a few generations back, and of course, none of them were able to rise above the racism and abuse in their past. They all resorted to gutter living like these criminals in Ferguson. Why, my own father, so beat down at losing his parents to concentration camps for his whole childhood, reacted just like any other poor boy from the hood. He looked around and saw other guys on the streets around him, guys he decided to emulate.
They were members of a gang in the late 1950s: UCLA students. He too had to perform initiations to be jumped into the “gang.” He worked three jobs to be able to afford it. Once he got himself enmeshed in the subculture of learning, it was hard to get out. He worked his way through grad school and medical boards and finally got out the spray paint and tagged his shingle and opened his private practice.
Just like any grown underprivileged guy from the hood, he spent his nights getting his buzz on: a couple fingers of scotch as he wined and dined other doctors and built enduring connections. After thirty years of hangin’ out, he retired, and then could bum around all day looking for money where he could find it, such as collecting dividends and trading stock.
Yes, it’s true. No one can ever rise above racial hatred in one’s past. Not possible.
If they’re going to bring the slavery excuse up, they need to be angry at the right people, you know, the ones keeping them in poverty with social programs, the ones who keep telling them they can’t make it unless we lower the standards for everyone else, etc....yeah, them.
Suggest determining whether the statistic is true before trying to decide why it is the case.
Sounds good to me.
Well, heres the deal. Lincoln offered to send any freed slave back to Africa who wanted to go. Some went and founded the county of Liberia

Believe that was originated by Monroe earlier in the century.
The US purchased what is now Liberia, who declared their independence prior our CW.
Hence, the Capital of Liberia is Monrovia.
Don't be ridiculous. It has existed in every culture. Saint Patrick himself was an English adolescent when he was captured by an Irish warlord and enslaved in the 5th century.
It costs over $60,000 a year to attend Columbia. No offense, but unless I was getting a full scholarship, there is no freaking way I would waste that kind of money to study Latin American History. It better be science, engineering, law, and medicine I’m studying for me to fork over and borrow that kind of money.

n urban areas many blacks drive older cars that are in various states of disrepair. if i drive a crap car around an affluent neighborhood for hours b/c i don’t live there i would not be surprised if cops might pull me over.
if something on your car isn’t working you can get pulled over. putting money into rims and dashboard bling doesn’t fix burnt-out headlights and taillights, or unpaid registrations/plates.
also not a great idea to ignore stop signs and signal lights and just drive hoever the hell you want to drive. will definitly get you pulled over.
Thank you for the clarification. It remains that the slaves could have returned but chose not to. Ancestors of so-called African Americans were here of their free will. I guess they should take it up with them.
