Vice President Biden acknowledged using a "poor choice of words" after referring to bankers that exploit U.S. troops as "Shylocks."
The vice president used the term during a talk Tuesday to a nonprofit that provides legal aid to those in need. But the term is considered by some to be an anti-Semitic term for Jews, and the head of the Anti-Defamation League put out a statement criticizing Biden.
"Shylock represents the medieval stereotype about Jews and remains an offensive characterization to this day. The Vice President should have been more careful," Abraham Foxman said, while still calling Biden friendly to the Jewish community.

I’ve never personally used a derogatory word, public or private, to describe anybody of a different ethnicity or religion or any other identifiable factor. For it to slip out in such a public fashion, it would have to be used in private a lot, I would think.
He meant to say that the veterans returning from Bush’s wars were gyped.
I've always thought of the word "Shylock" as a generic term used to describe a shady lawyer, regardless of ethnic background. I think too many people these days are just waiting and hoping for someone to say something - anything - that they can claim is offensive, and use it to manufacture a media frenzy. Usually it's a conservative or Republican who is the target of such accusations, so I can't feel too sorry when someone like Biden gets a taste of his own medicine.
Is this for real? This isn’t satire? The level of stupidity in this man is beyond belief.

Somebody puppeteers Biden, don’t know who, although I have my suspicions. But even 25 yrs ago one could tell he wasn’t his own man.

My thoughts exactly. The liberal wing is peppered with Jew-hating Jews, and for Biden to casually use the term “shylock” is tantamount to a hipster white guy using the N-word in mixed company because they are comfortable around the type of people who do.

I wouldn’t give Biden that much credit. An Irish lady (conservative) on my block said she heard through channels that Obama picked Biden because it was Ted Kennedy’s dying wish. I’m satisfied with that explanation.
Biden isn’t a bad human being, but somebody holds him in thrall. In person he was like the tough-but-nice detective from the police department who counsels teens and speaks at school assemblies, but you could tell somebody had him a leash because he never went after the big fish. I’m sure he’s in way over his head on the Obama / Jarrett / Holder / MB agenda and I’m surprised he’s held on for this long.
After conversing with another FReeper offline, I suspect there is a Chinese connection, because they’ve certainly taken over the Univ. of Delaware and that was his bailiwick for a long time. Of course that would also tie him in with the Clinton - Gore cabal. And it was said in the 1980s that China and the Soviets had operatives on virtually every US college campus.

How Biden worships is his business. How he voted in Congress depended on the constituency he represented, not necessarily his personal beliefs.
Blame the Delaware libs who elected him.
