Middle School Bans Teen’s “Virginity Rocks” T-Shirt

An Arkansas middle school is under fire for banning a student’s t-shirt which reads “Virginity Rocks.”

Although 13-year-old Cloe Rubiano is saving herself for marriage, school officials are unhappy she is sharing that message with students at Ramay Junior High. Rubiano purchased the shirt at a Christian festival to display her pro-life values. The shirt says “Virginity Rocks” on the front, and “I’m loving my husband and I haven’t even met him” on the back.

However, when she wore the shirt to school, officials banned the shirt and made her wear a school-issued gym shirt instead, saying the shirt might lead to uncomfortable conversations about sex.

Rubiano told a local television news station: “I really like the shirt because I was always raised that way. I didn’t really think anyone would make a big deal out of it.”

“Rubiano said her vice principal told her that the shirt could distract the classroom environment, with the possibility that it ‘opens up too many doors for conversations,’” 5News reports.

Her mother told the television station (Link to Video) she supports her daughter:

“I didn’t really see the big worry, but they called me to the office,” Rubiano said.

Rubiano said her vice principal told her that the shirt could distract the classroom environment, with the possibility that it “opens up too many doors for conversations.”

Chloe’s mother, Bambi Crozier, said she was surprised by the school’s decision.

“This is part of sex [education] to me. Virginity is where you need to be,” Crozier said.

Crozier said she found the shirt to be bold, but appropriate.

“It represents what she believes,” Crozier said. “I’m very thankful that Chloe has this belief.”

Crozier said she can also understand why the school made this decision.

Crozier had posted about the situation on her Facebook page. Crozier said a comment that her friend posted made her consider the other end of the topic.

“If you have the right to say (‘Virginity Rocks’), you also have the right to say, ‘Sex Rocks.’ And, I’m like, ‘Oh, Lord, he is right,’” Crozier said.

Rubiano had to change into a school-issued gym shirt for the remainder of the day on Thursday (Sept. 11).

Rubiano said she will still wear the “Virginity Rocks” T- shirt in public.

Really?

Planned Parenthood gives teenagers lessons on fisting. Teachers take 12 year old girls to get abortions. How can talking about abstinence possibly an "uncomfortable conversation"?

promoting abstinence til marriage is controversial in todays amoral society.

I bet a majority of young people have never heard that concept.

"uncomfortable conversations about sex". That's right, the dreaded "A" word. (Shhh.... abstinence). What? You can't tell kids that!!!

I’m not a Christian, nor do I think that sexuality necessarily has to be saved for marriage, but I still can’t see what anyone could possibly find offensive about this shirt. It might “lead to uncomfortable discussions about sex”? Geez, are these not schools where they have sex ed classes that teach all sorts of things that parents, and even the kids, may be uncomfortable discussing?

I would go to the mat for the right of this girl to wear this t-shirt, unless there is some sort of general policy against t-shirts with slogans and logos.

Wear a shirt that says “abortion rocks” or “lesbeans have more fun” and you get an award.

Yet if she “bravely” had an abortion right before graduation they would applaud her.

Need a shirt that reads “STD’s are fun, sex ed says so”, send the school faculty the shirts.

Well, we must never have “uncomfortable conversations”, when those conversations don’t support the left’s agenda.

Without all this publicity, any attention the girl’s shirt might have drawn would be over in a day or two.

Nearly all of these kinds of stories are overblown media concoctions. But gee, throw it in the trough, and most of the sheep will lap it up.

What the school said about "conversations" and "sexual content" is BULLSH*T.

They banned it because it is from a Christian organization (LiveOffensively.com now known as LoveOffensively.com).

Pure and simple - religious content is not permitted in public schools, regardless of how well-intentioned. And unfortunately, since schools have rules regarding religious statements, slogans, etc. on clothing, she probably can't fight this successfully.

It's a shame, because it's a great message.

Public schools.

For when you absolutely, positively have no standards.

No real parent send their child to such uneducated idiocy.

Education degree..Ayers has one.

‘Nuff said.

I don’t think this shirt is appropriate either. But nor are pro-gay messages.
