On September 10, the Missouri Senate voted to override Governor Jay Nixon's (D) veto of SB 656--the legislation to allow schools to train teachers to become "School Protection Officers" and carry guns with which to protect children on campus.
SB 656 also allows people who possess a concealed carry permit (CCW) to openly carry firearms, and it lowers the legal age for a CCW from 21 to 19.
The override passed by a margin of 23 to 8. A house vote is set for September 11, where the veto is expected to be overturned.

Wow! Maybe, just maybe, there are small pockets where sanity is returning!
I see. So, it’s perfectly fine to send an 18 year old to war with guns, grenades, and armament but, they are not old enough to carry a gun openly or concealed.
Duplicitous. ..
If its any consolation, Jay will be quick to send in the tanks and swat team if anyone looks at a teacher cross-eyed so they probably don’t need the protection . . .
Can anyone please explain why the Governor wants to protect school shooters?
Not so fast. The article says the house will overturn the senate veto to override the gov. Weird, I know.
I’m from Missouri, and YUP he is. A big liberal!
“The override passed by a margin of 23 to 8. A house vote is set for September 11, where the veto is expected to be overturned.”
I think you just misread it.
You could be right. I could be misreading it. LOL!
Looks like the statist governor done got the smackdown. Another victory for our right to keep and bear arms.
The override passed by a margin of 23 to 8.I dont read it the same way you do. Granted that the wording is clumsy, but the senate voted to override the veto (a power of the governor in particular), and a vote is scheduled the house where the veto (again, a power only of the governor) is expected to be overturned.A house vote is set for September 11, where the veto is expected to be overturned.
I conclude that the author means that the governors veto is expected to be overturned when the house votes on that question September 11 (today).
That’s what I get for reading what some reporter writes. I certainly hope that the house upholds the override of the govs veto.
Boy, GO MISSOURI! They also overrode the veto on the 72 hour wait for an abortion. Powerful. Very powerful. If only this could happen in DC.
Bloomberg will hype this story:

Utah teacher accidently shoots self in leg at school
Published September 11, 2014
Associated Press
SALT LAKE CITY Officials say a Utah elementary school teacher has been rushed to the hospital after a concealed firearm she was carrying accidently discharged in a school bathroom and shot her in the leg.
Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsley says the teacher was in the faculty restroom when the gun went off shortly before class started Thursday at Westbrook Elementary School, in the Salt Lake City suburb of Taylorsville.
Horsley says no other faculty or students were in the area.
He says the teacher was severely injured when the bullet entered and exited her leg.
Accidentally discharged? Another one of those evil guns that thinks it can do whatever it wants whenever it wants. Mine appear to be well behaved and the ones that are loaded seemingly don’t want to “accidentally discharge”. But I guess they’re like pit bulls. You gotta keep and eye on ‘em. :>}
The veto by Governor Nixon has been overridden. SB656 will become effective in 30 days.

YAYS!!!!
So, how many appeals or filing will go to the Mo. court to overturn the overturning. I’m sure somehow, some way, someone will contest the override. That’s just how they are. In the meantime......GOOD!
