Thirteen years ago today the United States was attacked. More than 3,000 people lost their lives because a radical group of monsters saw a giant sleeping and took advantage of it. It could easily happen again.
The mood in the pre-9/11 world was one of contentment and ignorance. The United States was the only remaining superpower, and we felt invincible. But human beings are not invincible, a lesson we learned that horrible day.
Wed turned away from the rest of the world after the fall of the Soviet Union, thinking the threats to our security were crushed under the crumbled Berlin Wall. We were wrong.
Weve returned to that pre-9/11 mentality of willful ignorance to world affairs and threats from abroad. But this time is different; this time its purposeful.
Whereas Presidents Clinton and Bush should have been more aware of, but couldnt fathom the growing threat from radical Islam, President Obama is fully aware of it and doesnt care.
President Obama ran in 2008 as a candidate who thought his mere existence would be enough to appease people who want to kill Americans because we exist. He was going to restore Americas image overseas by giving a few speeches. He actually thought Americas involvement in foreign affairs was the reason we were attacked on 9/11.
But al Qaeda didnt want to send a message to back off on 9/11. It saw an opportunity. Our principle adversary dissolved, Presidents Clinton and Bush focused on domestic policy, paying only cursory attention to the rest of the world.
We were complacent, and that was foolish. But it was somewhat understandable. The Cold War a 40-year geopolitical project had just ended. Most Americans have never known the world without the Cold War.
Its different now. President Obama had the benefit of hindsight when he took office in 2009 and ignored it.
Obama wanted to fundamentally transform America, not defend it. He seemed to think he could stave off our very real enemies by ignoring them, as if radical Islamic terrorists would hear they were no longer going to be targets because the president was going to overhaul the health care system. He couldnt have been more wrong if hed tried.
The rest of the world needs leadership, to one degree or another. No other nation has the moral authority, let alone the military and diplomatic strength, to hold evil actors in check.
Evil exists in the world not because of American foreign policy; it exists in relative check because of Americas foreign policy. Or at least it did.
There are evil people on the planet who seek to harm, rape, enslave and kill people who do not adhere to their worldview and religious sect. Disengagement doesnt take the United States off their radar; it gives them time to plan.
You cant rationalize with these evil people who embrace death. Osama bin Laden famously said, We love death. The U.S. loves life. Thats the big difference between us. Obama seems to think he can talk them into loving life too, but its impossible.
They firmly believe paradise awaits them upon their death, and by killing as many people as possible, they are doing the bidding of the gatekeeper of that paradise. Rational thought is a rock against a brick wall when it comes to that mentality.
Evil is not rational it will never be convinced it is wrong. It can only learn things the hard way. Unfortunately, people who expect paradise and find Hell cant return to share their new knowledge.
When decisiveness is needed, Barack Obama waits. When a strategy is required, Barack Obama delivers a speech. When leadership is needed, Barack Obama golfs.
The lessons of Sept. 11, 2001, are not lost on Barack Obama. But theyre unimportant. The lip service he pays to the threats facing this country are hollow words designed to placate. He has not shifted any of his focus away from his domestic agenda.
As we mark the 13th anniversary of Americas darkest day, we cant lose sight of the threats the world still, and will always, present. Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty
even if the man currently holding the checkbook isnt interested.
Obama is a POS.
13 years ago tomorrow we began to abandon our freedoms in the now never ending war on terror.
I can’t even begin to describe what I saw in Obama’s eyes during his speech last night.
Don’t tell my you watched that arrogant pos? I had my TV on mute while I was on my computer, and since I cannot type without looking at my keyboard I did not even see my TV which is about 5 feet to the left of me
You forgot arrogant, lazy and lying
You can blame the peanut farmer from Georgia that our problems with the Muslims started. Don’t blame President Bush for it
Lots of (conservative) folks had trouble with W. as President, but I’m very thankful it was him, not Obama, who was in office during the 9-11 attacks. Just imagine Obama addressing the nation:
“This morning, after years of oppressive American policies toward the Islamic world, 19 Muslims had finally had enough.......”
I was switching between Obola and the Tigers while YouTube-ing with a few Blue Lights, which tasted great after the rain we had earlier.
Not blaming anyone. Upon reflection the slide away from freedom probably began before 9/11 with any multiple of things. Fed policy, “living” Constitution, 3 letter agencies, war on drugs et al. What changed was the velocity towards serfdom.
On this thirteenth anniversary of 9/11, please keep us safe and bless the innocent Americans who lost their lives on that day. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of Your Son that they may share in the joy of Your heavenly kingdom forever.
NEVER FORGET
Click here for the fantastic, moving website memorial created by a survivor of 9/11, Steve Golding of New York City. It is the most viewed of all 9/11 memorials. It is now in the Smithsonian Museum. Music by Enya.
Or Try this one
There are many sites that carry this most famous of the 9/11 memorials, the Steve Golding memorial. After so many years some do not work. If neither site works, look up 'America attacked 9/11." It is well worth your time. It should be required viewing for every American. Be prepared for a good cry, though.
The second site carries a 'message' and a description of 'that day' in his own words from the creator of the website, Steve Golding, and reference to the Pentagon attack. Be sure to see them. Very powerful.
Steve, may God rest his soul, has since died from an injury sustained on 9/11. God bless you, Steve- and thank you for leaving us this wonderful and moving memorial to the heroes of 9/11.

And read Steve's account in his own words of 'That Day' here
