  • Arab-Americans accuse 9/11 Memorial Museum of discrimination

    Bizpac Review ^ | September 16, 2013 | Cheryl Carpenter Klimek
Tourists visiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City can read its brochures in 10 different languages – but Arabic is not one of them. Nor will it be any time soon. “Nine languages are spoken by over 97 percent of our visitors: English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Mandarin, Italian, Japanese and Russian,” a representative from the memorial told the New York Post. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, claiming Arabic is the world’s fourth-most-spoken language, is sending letters to memorial coordinators demanding answers on why the language is not included. But it appears that the Arabic community is looking for...

Back in 2004, when a NYFD chief reminded the 9/11 Commission that it was never in "anyone's consciousness" that the Twin Towers would fall, he underscored a terrible truth. After 9/11, we entered the Age of the Unthinkable. Seared into our collective consciousness is that the Twin Towers could and did fall. So could the U.S. Capitol, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Superdome. Our children know that which we as children never before imagined -- passenger planes may become guided missiles, and skyscrapers may turn into smoking, twisted rubble. This age of Islamic jihad against the West has indeed...

A 2,977 flag memorial was ripped out of the ground in front of Mead Memorial Chapel shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 by a group of five protestors claiming that the flags were on top of a sacred Abenaki burial site. The flags — meant to commemorate each of the 2,977 lives taken in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks — have been posted in the grass between Mead Chapel and the Davis Family Library annually in a joint effort between the College Republicans and Democrats for nearly 10 years. #2MillionBikerstoDC should be trending. Despite being denied riding permits by D.C. city officials, motorcyclists from across the nation honored 9/11 victims and the U.S. Armed Forces Wednesday by rumbling more than 900,000 strong through the Capitol. The bikers reportedly wore name tags of the fallen. The military also showed their support in favor of the patriotic ride.  Marine salutes bikers in greeting! Got pic from #2MBikers Facebook page! Truly, I had not intended to write about the anniversary of September 11, 2001. I had thought I would remember it in my silence and thoughts. Then, I started watching some of the video footage of that day and reading some of the posts of the blogs I frequent, and realized I could not keep silent. The tragedy of that day requires me to post my thoughts. To say September 11, 2001 was a tragedy is an understatement. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives when the World Trade Center towers came crashing down. The most painful of those deaths, at...

Before construction began on the World Trade Center in the 1960s, a vibrant Arab-American community lived and worked in the shadow of what would become the Twin Towers, the two New York skyscrapers destroyed in the 9/11 attacks. As Wednesday's 12th anniversary of the attacks draws near, local historians are asking the September 11 Memorial Museum to include a reference to the neighborhood, known for more than 50 years as "Little Syria," in its permanent exhibit.

I am strongly opposed to American military involvement in Syria. One side is Assad and Iran, the other side is Al Qaeda. We have no business supporting either side. America’s job is to protect our vital national interests. The United States has no strategic interest in this conflict, and we have not been directly threatened by the events thus far. The events in Syria are tragic for the innocent people involved, but it does not affect our vital national interests, so I will be voting “no” on the use of force in Syria. But his definition of 'large-scale attacks,' his speech made clear, doesn't include the 2013 Boston Marathon attack that wounded hundreds, the 2012 Benghazi terror attack that injured dozens and killed four, and the 2009 attack at Fort Hood that killed 13 and injured 30.

Eleven years ago today, terrorists killed over three thousand civilians in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Nineteen Muslims carried out the attacks. The religion of the terrorists is relevant because religion (Islam) motivated the terrorists to commit mass murder. Also of importance is the nationality of the terrorists. Fifteen of the nineteen hijackers were nationals of Saudi Arabia. The late leader of al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, was Saudi. These are not coincidences. A simmering controversy surrounding the "Ground Zero Cross" exposes the intolerance and absolutism behind ongoing battles over religious symbols on public property. Contrary to popular belief, it's not Christian conservatives who normally start these bitter disputes. It's more often atheist activists who seek to alter the long-standing status quo by scrubbing the landscape of the most visible signs of the nation's religious heritage. America's economy could have collapsed after 9/11, but instead, it rebounded. Its people could have sunk into depression, but we rose to the challenge of rebuilding and supporting those who had lost so much. Taking time to commemorate the sacrifice and loss of so many Americans is fitting; many columns and programs have done so. I prefer to remember how, in the days after 9/11, Americans pulled together to bounce back. In a visit to Israel in 2005, a citizen observed, "In Israel, we respond differently to terrorist attacks. The root cause of September 11 was fundamentalist Islam. The West responded to that provocation with overwhelming Military force, but Military force (as we learned the hard way) is not enough, we need to fight an idea with another set of ideas. Cast your minds back to the Cold War. The Soviets offered a perverted vision of the future of mankind, it was elegantly written and beautifully argued - and it was seductive. The Free World countered by emphasising the timeless message of the Gospel and the Judeo-Christian foundations of Free Societies. An alternative vision was presented. This planet has...

  • Intel from bin Laden compound shows al-Qaeda plotted against U.S. rail system

SNIPPET: "WASHINGTON – Some of the first information gleaned from Osama bin Laden's compound indicates al-Qaida considered attacking U.S. trains on the upcoming anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. But counterterrorism officials say they believe the planning never got beyond the initial phase and have no recent intelligence pointing to an active plot for such an attack. As of February 2010, the terror organization was considering plans to attack the U.S. on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. One idea outlined in handwritten notes was to tamper with an unspecified U.S. rail track so that a train would fall...

Hanson wrote in a May 24 letter that he prays members focus on "peace, justice and interfaith encounter." This is why you don’t debate with talking points with a person of Condi Rice’s intellect. Some have called this a spanking. I call it a a lesson in bad interviewing. If this were one of Condi’s classes, Lawrence O’Donnell would be clapping erasers after class. IF you watch nothing else today, please watch this, and listen, and enjoy. Allahpundit at Hot Air gives O’Donnell props just for having Rice on. But I don’t think if you call yourself a journalist, you pat yourself on the back just because you take on an opponent face-to-face.

Upon waking up this morning, and being told by a family member that the master-mind of the horrific September 11, 2001, attacks, Osama Bin Ladin has been killed in an American military operation in Abbottabad in northwestern Pakistan. Truly today in the United States of America, this is a very good day, at last, JUSTICE HAS BEEN DONE. JUSTICE HAS BEEN DONE by having Osama Bin Ladin hunted down and killed for the families and friends of the 3,000 people who were killed on September 11, 2001, ten years ago this coming September 11, 2011.

Americans tonight are united in celebration and gratitude. God bless all the brave men and women in our military and our intelligence services who contributed to carrying out the successful mission to bring bin Laden to justice and who laid the groundwork over the years to make this victory possible. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of these brave Americans who relentlessly hunted down our enemy. This is a victory for the American people, for the victims who were heartlessly murdered on September 11 and in Al Qaeda’s other numerous attacks, and for all the peace-loving people...

The U.S. government for the first time has released in full the evidence against the organizers of the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks, Agence France-Presse reported on Sunday, April 10th. The data was made public just as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was referring the case to the Defense Department. The terrorists will be judged by a military tribunal in Guantanamo, rather than in a civilian criminal court in the United States. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, Wallid bin Attash, and Mustapha al-Hawsawi are considered the organizers of the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks. For a...

President Barack Obama's adviser on Muslim affairs, Dalia Mogahed, has provoked controversy by appearing on a British television show hosted by a member of an extremist group to talk about Sharia Law. Miss Mogahed, appointed to the President's Council on Faith-Based and Neighbourhood Partnerships, said the Western view of Sharia was "oversimplified" and the majority of women around the world associate it with "gender justice". The White House adviser made the remarks on a London-based TV discussion programme hosted by Ibtihal Bsis, a member of the extremist Hizb ut Tahrir party. The group believes in the non-violent destruction of Western...

Tow truck driver T. J Gilmartin hauled away destroyed FDNY vehicles from Ground Zero after 9/11, and now suffers diminished lung capacity and multiple breathing problems. He told the Daily News about his recent trip to Capitol Hill, where he hoped to sway Senators to vote in favor of the Zadroga 9/11 health bill, which will provide money and health care to sick first responders. While he noted many positive experiences with most of the Senators--he called Sens. Jeff Sessions and Richard Shelby of Alabama "gentlemen"--he says his interaction with Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) did not go as well. "I...

We concur with North Carolina's Renee Ellmers that "The terrorists haven't won. We should tell them in plain English, 'No; there will never be a mosque at Ground Zero.'" Ellmers spoke with Freedom Radio about the mosque and her campaign to unseat Congressman Bob Etheridge: Last year, eight Muslim residents of her Congressional district were arrested for plotting to attack the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia which demonstrated the threat posed by the rise of radical Islamists here is a national security concern. Her opponent for North Carolina's 2nd District seat, Congressman Bob Etheridge, reportedly "has never thought building...

The 9 News link came to me via my Google alert for 'September 11'. As you will see, the museum also contains a gallery on that subject. In a city-owned museum in Loveland, Colorado, where school children often make field trips, there is a 12-panel lithograph entitled "The Misadventures of the Romantic Cannibals" which the artist defends and the city refuses to remove. Not everyone there is amused. "It depicts clearly a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ engaging in an oral sex act with another person," says Deacon Ed Armijo of St. John's The Evangelist Catholic Church. Deacon Armijo...
