Both husband, wife now have left loaded guns in restrooms

Apparently, carrying a concealed weapon for some PEOPLE is so second nature they don't realize when they've left their gun behind in a restroom.

A 76-year-old Oconomowoc man — whose wife left a loaded handgun in a Brookfield church restroom this year — left his own weapon in the restroom of a DOOR COUNTY fun park this month, according to sheriff's department reports.

The loaded Ruger .380-caliber was found, in a holster, on the floor of a men's room at the Egg Harbor Fun Park on Aug. 9. A patron of the park — which features miniature golf, go-carts, arcade games and many other attractions for FAMILIES — turned it in to the park's owner. The owner held it a few hours, assuming the owner would come back looking for the gun. When no one did, he called the sheriff's office.

Investigators traced the gun to Gerald Hitchler, who has a second home in Egg Harbor. Records SHOWED he had purchased the weapon in 2012 from a Gander Mountain store.

No one was hurt.

When a deputy CONTACTED Hitchler, he expressed shock that the gun was found at the fun park, though he acknowledged he had gone there with his wife. He told a deputy both he and his wife have permits to carry concealed weapons.

It’s the name that comes up when a drunk cartographer says, hey, alternate the letter “o” with some random consonants so we can name this town and finish the map. Or not.

If you listen to the anti-gun folks, you would think that the gun is going to walk over to a school and massacre a bunch of children.

This is the kind of fear that some suburban folks have here in the Northeast!

This shows that worthless governments at all levels have successfully turned a huge part of the citizenry into sniveling wimps. The better to drag them around by the nose and rule over them.

I can understand how it happens but, it shouldn’t.

I have gone places where I had to change clothes, for instance the golf course. If you take a shower at a public or even private facility what to do with your gun. I always find a pocket big enough to hold my weapon, stuff it in there and lock the locker until I change back into my street clothes.

Some say not to carry on the course that it disrupts the swing, ok it disrupts my swing, bfd. My swing is nothing to brag about anyway. If it weren’t for the social aspect of golf I wouldn’t play anyway.

I have never had a problem. I have however left my weapon on the bed stand or dresser while changing at home and not realized it until sometime later noticed I didn’t have my weapon, scary, I have a bunch of grandkids.

While these old people didn’t cause any problem the potential was certainly there. They need a refresher course about gun handling.

I am one of the “old people”, as a group I think old people should all be armed all the time.

Not if government schools taught to the NRA standards as a matter of course. Liberalism is a menace to children.

http://eddieeagle.nra.org/

Government schools also don’t teach drown proofing, anti-abduction techniques, or self-defense.

The goal of government schooling isn’t a prepared, confident citizen, but a docile, manipulatable serf.

When I can’t reliably hang onto my carry piece, I think it just migh be time to hang it up.

IIRC something like 10 million Americans have carry permits. Many more carry sans permit in Constitutional Carry states like AZ. There are bound to be isolated incidents like this unfortunately. Even LEO occasionally do something dumb like this. One can never be complacent when armed.

Well,I am 76 and I think should not carry. I have left my passport in a German airport restroom. I left my cellphone in a Scottish restroom. So no gun for me. I did last year take a pistol shooting class. I was the oldest and the worst shot. I gave my pistol to my grandson.

“The goal of government schooling isn’t a prepared, confident citizen, but a docile, manipulatable serf.”

I agree...BUT- the ‘serf’ is not what they want to create or rule... What the government REALLY wants to cultivate is an entire class of ‘serfs’ who are indistinguishable one from another.

Everyone is to be a minute part of the entire mass of undifferentiated being... There will be no INDIVIDUALS and NO INDIVIDUALITY, for sure!!

These drones of course will be kept in a state of dull-witted malleability.

The government can do this through a system of public ‘education’ which is practically worthless and deliberately sub-standard AND with a perpetual torrent of free or cheap and near-worthless ‘luxuries’.

Of course the government will also provide an uninterrupted stream of sensory diversion of the crudest kind, appealing ONLY to the minds and wants of children, who by now are positively indolent and perennially immature!

Now THAT is a malleable and docile population-and a tyrant’s DREAM!!

I agree. We are human, we make mistakes. Mistakes with a firearm are generally serious and should be extremely rare. So rare that when something like this happens it is noteworthy enough to end up in the news and discussed here on FR. Hmm, did I just come full circle?

Can someone explain how this tracing business works exactly?

What a very touching and heartfelt message from Clint Eastwood.

He made my day!

If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age.

My Twilight Years ~ Clint Eastwood

As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will be a clear, cold morning when there isn’t any “more.” No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat.

It seems to me that one of the important things to do before that morning comes, is to let every one of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, “He was my friend, and I know where he stood.”

So, just in case I’m gone tomorrow, please know this: I voted against that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic moron currently in the White House!

Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids.

Regards,

Clint

While sitting on the throne the weight of the gun can cause the holster to slide off the belt.

I know.
