“Lowery is right on this one. George W. Bush liked to use that phrase.”

K-Street lobbyist tested and approved.

I like this idea. It’s on my priority list just behind beheading the leaders of ISIS.

Secure the border with a fence or two (electrified?) and electronic monitoring.

Double the size of the Border Patrol and ICE and free them to do their jobs. Ditto immigration judges.

Make entering the country illegally a felony.

Raise the penalties for hiring illegals to include jail time, and perp walk a couple of Big Business types when tehy do it.

Cut off ALL benefits to illegals.

End birthright citizenship.

Disallow chain migration. You get your nuclear family, no one else.

Change the H-1B visa system to bring in the people we want.

Streamline the system for coming legally so it doesn’t take people several years to do it.

I picked shade tobacco in the Connecticut River Valley for 3 summers back in the 70's when I was a teen. I was paid 1.38 an hour to 1.90 an hour in that span It was a right of passage for teens then to work that job.

Martin Luther King came up from the south to Connecticut(Read his bio) and did the same work in the 40's for 2 years.

Today, no local kids want to do that job. It is very dirty and labor intensive.

You went home and had to take a long shower to wash the sticky tar off your body and hair.

Kids are too soft today. Back in the 70's they brought in 3 bus loads of local kids to work and 1 bus of Puerto Ricans(They are Americans) to work the farm I worked on.

Today it is mostly Jamaicans.

He's not just a talking head - he's also a breadwinner for his family.

I wonder if John Derbyshire considered that little detail when he wrote his "The Talk" piece. Rich Lowry fired him for it.

My guess is that NR's sponsors fired Derbyshire by threatening to withhold their financial support, without which NR would have folded, and they will do the same to Lowry.

Befor the recession hit, illegals were making $20.00/ hr as a nanny in CA. That ‘s pretty darn good for someone with no education and no green card.

If there are no illegals to work for the pittance some of these companies offer then maybe the jobs Americans won’t do will pay enough that Americans will do them.

I’m with you, though “nuclear family” can be abused and what exactly is the point of shooing out illegals if you let them all simply walk in legally?

Here in NJ the illegals depress wages for unskilled work, then only Spanish-speakers are hired for jobs that deal with them (supermarket cashiers, any sales-type jobs). They do nothing that Americans weren’t doing prior to their arrival; they just do it for less and labor laws can be skirted because they are illegal.

Both parties seem A-OK with this...

He's right. Although, there are some "Americans" (they hardly deserve the title) who refuse to work, and will continue to do so as long as we hand out AFDC, WIC, EBT, Section 8, SSDI, etc.

Here are just a few of our Welfare programs that now 109,000,000 "Americans" take from:

Universal Program for Subsidized Phones for Low Income (ObamaPhones), EBT Food Stamps, Medicaid, Section 8 Housing, Unemployment, TANF Welfare, Energy Assistance, EITC, Foster Care Title IV, Old Age Assistance, AFDC, General Assistance Cash, Assets for Independence, General Assistance to Native Americans, SCHiP State Supplemental Health Insurance Program, Consolidated Health Centers, Consolidated Community Health, Maternal and Child Health Assistance Fund, Healthy Start, School Lunch, Job Assistance, Job Training, Minority Job Assistance, Job Relocation, Woman Infants and Children's Program, Nutrition for the Elderly, Summer Program, Summer Jobs Program, Minority Summer Jobs, Hispanic Jobs Program, African-American Jobs Program, Commodity Supplemental Food Program, Special Milk Program, Needy Families, Farmer's Market Nutrition Program, Public Housing, Low Income Energy Assistance, Migrant Education, Title One Grants to Local Education Authorities, Education for Homeless Children and Youth, Even Start, Job Corps, Social Security Disability, Social Security for Refugees, Social Security for Humanitarian Cases, Social Security for Asylum, Health Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood Grants, TANF Child Care, Empowerment Zones for Minority Communities, Urban Development Action Grants, and Family Planning (abortion).

We don’t need to get rid of anyone to get someone to do the job. US citizens are already doing those jobs. And even the 6 jobs that have a majority of non-citizens have a huge percentage of US citizens. So, saying that US citizens will not do a particular job is a lie about ANY of the jobs.

When the illegals become legal through amnesty, they will become eligible for “free stuff”. Many will simply live off the handouts, contributing NOTHING to society.

It may be cheap to employ these illegals, but once they are legal, to pay them less than others is probably illegal, certainly immoral & racist, leaving working Americans to make up the difference in handouts & suffer the expense of more poor, ignorant people who add little good to society.

As for these supposed jobs that Americans wont do, American youth used to do many of these jobs after school & during the summer.

Lawn maintenance is a perfect example. Not too long ago this work was done primarily by school kids. Now it is done, at a much higher price, by landscapers employing illegals. They don't do any better job for the extra money, & the kids are left with nothing to do, no work experience, & in many cases, no pocket money.

IMHO the ability to rest easy of you not being sued or challenged in court by an ILLEGAL ALIEN is more important that the lower wage issue.

The children of illegal aliens (so called dreamers) are attending our public universities at the instate rate to enter professional careers that millions of Americans most certainly WILL do.

The only disagreement I’ve had with Sarah Palin is her use of the term, “crony capitalism”.

“Crony Socialism” is a more accurate term that defines the crony partnership of big govt socialists with the businesses they choose to be winners.
