This is disgusting. I’ve been told over and over again that Texas is the greatest state in the union so how can this possibly happen? I’m serious!

Texas has some of the most bass-ackwards firearms laws in the country. Most of that boils down to the Reconstruction.

We're working to change them. Getting rid of Dewhurst was important.

Te attack on Perry is because of Second Amendment, to strip him of his gun rights....it’s their way of saying they are going to do that to all conservatives given the chance.

Cue the theme song from “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas:”

“Texas has a $hitthouse in it” (and it’s Austin)

It's Austin.

Texas Democrats have been bitter ever since the redistricting that resulted from the 2000 census.

That's why the went after Tom DeLay so hard, because he was the central figure in the mid-decade redistricting that followed in 2003 that resulted in the ouster of Democrat Representative Martin Frost.

Governor Rick Perry was also a party to the redistricting, so think of this as really long knives -- payback a decade late.

See 2003 Texas redistricting for all the gory details.

Native Texan here. Texas gun laws are much more restrictive than you'd believe if you just listened to the media or paid attention to stereotypes. There is no provision under Texas law for open carry of handguns at all (though you can open carry long guns). The author is wrong about ammunition though, as you don't have to sign anything to buy ammo.

It isn’t legal to shoot communists, that’s why.
