Texas Democrats have been bitter ever since the redistricting that resulted from the 2000 census.

That's why the went after Tom DeLay so hard, because he was the central figure in the mid-decade redistricting that followed in 2003 that resulted in the ouster of Democrat Representative Martin Frost.

Governor Rick Perry was also a party to the redistricting, so think of this as really long knives -- payback a decade late.
