Mainstream conservatives ran the table in Senate Republican primaries as tea party upstarts lost all six challenges to GOP incumbents.

The results left the establishment upbeat about midterm elections, and the insurgent movement beaten but unbowed.

Sold their souls for the devil this cycle. Tactics used by the party are not forgivable, and at least one of these guys will lose in November because of it.

We got a bigger scalp in downstate Virginia anyway, and Mississippi is yet to be resolved.

I’m giddy myself. These people are sparing me the pain of going to the polls. I can just sit home and follow the story on the Internet as the whole country sinks into oblivion.

They were crowing before and got burnt in the Cantor election.

The fact is, the TeaParty (grassroots) is putting a fire under their feet and they don't like it.

And I hope Cochran loses in Miss.

Sweep?

The loss of Cantor negates the use of the term “Sweep”. Besides, the tea party is still growing at the local and state level. In another 2 years they’re going to start showing up in house and senate races in unprecedented numbers.

The guy who beat Cantor has his work cut out for him, he will find no help in his own party. I heard the party decided to pull all of the GOTV funds in that district and send it to other candidates.

In both Kansas and Tennessee they packed the field in “most votes wins” primaries and couldn’t break 50% for either bag of Shiite they ran. If that has them happy they are desperate to find something to be happy about.

The GOP is just not a viable option for conservatives. The party has deeply intrenched interests who protect the status quo and ward off all who would fight against big government. The GOP will never change. Ever. Attempting to work through it is a fool’s errand and a complete waste of time.

We in the conservative minority (and it is) need to be willing to focus our energies against the truly traitorous republican incumbents and candidates. Not everyone with a less-than-perfect voting record must be opposed in order to make headway against the progressive scum in DC. If a GOPE type retains his seat against the DEM challenger, while conservatives win primaries and beat the liberals in the open contests, the eventual thrust of government will be positive. Most of the GOPE’ers are unprincipled enough to go with the flow most of the time. We just have to concentrate on changing the zeitgeist!

Apparently, the GOP enjoys their successes with the knowledge there are plenty of mind-numb Republican sycophants just like there is in the Democrat Party.

My position has been that it is pointless, vain and futile for conservatives to challenge the Republican Establishment.
The Republican Establishment makes the rules and usually wins the game, nomination, election, in the end, either electing a Liberal Republican or Democrat.
A Third Party is the only answer.
Contrary to some, I will vote in any election, there have always been candidates and issues worthy of support or opposition.
In the General Election, the Republican Establishment will have a tough time garnering support for a GOP program of higher taxes, more government spending for cronies, open and unsecured borders for illegals and a spy state focused on regular citizens plus continuing foreign wars and adventurism.
Though Mr. Obama and the Democrats are very unpopular, the Republican Establishment may pull off another loss, having no responsibility but lots of perks and privileges and a forum for whining without even proposing any reform.

I share your position. I called it quits after the McDaniel/Cochran debacle.
