Israel and Hamas agreed Thursday to an unconditional, 72-hour humanitarian cease-fire in the Gaza conflict, set to begin Friday, the United States and United Nations said.
The cease-fire was scheduled to commence at 8 am local time on Friday, and is expected to last for a period of 72 hours unless it's extended, the State Department said in a statement. Military forces will be expected to stay in place during the cease-fire.
In a joint statement, the U.S. and U.N. said they had gotten assurances that all parties to the conflict had agreed to the halt in hostilities.

Like Chico Marx said, there ain’t no sanity clause.
Kerry is in India. It’s pretty obvious that he and the USA had “0” to do with this cease fire.

Foolish US and UN officials are duped again.
What good are "assurances" from Muslim extremists whose "holy" writings command them to lie to infidels in order to get strategic military advantage.

And set to end friday.
Yes, Hamas is probabky hurting a lot. Not only have most of their attack tunnels been discovered and destroyed, but lots of other infrastructure as well (not least the UN Munitions Warehouses). Also, according to one (anonymous) high Israeli official the IDF had killed more than 1000 terrorists, and note, the number of slain combatants was higher than the number of killed civilians!! If true that is quite amazing, for an anti-terrorist or anti-guerrilla action in an urban area. The bloggers ElderofZion and Israeliscool have looked at casualties at the start of the campaign and published figures round 1:1, but when IDF started is real push against the tunnels it appears Hamas and the other terror organizations were surprised, and their losses considerably larger than has been acknowledged so far. Nevertheless, it is a shame that Israel once again has to wait for Hamas to break a cease-fire to be allowed to finish them off!
Agreed — we need a source/context for that photo. Is it an Arab man “disciplining” his children? Or using them as human shields? Or something else?
72 hours for the IDF to place charges in the tunnels.
You mean, that photo is real? It’s not just photoshop savvy freepers at it again?
that’s always Israel’s problem they listen to the world of idiots instead of just going in and doing what’s best for them and to hell with anyone who doesn’t like it.

Hamas regroups.
Do the Arabs start their days when the sun sets?
Cease fire to rearm.
> Hamas must be running low on ammo and missiles again.
No worries though. Obama says he has plenty of ammo stockpiled. He’ll just send some over.
