Ya tell people the government now sees the American people as the enemy, and some just can't quite grasp what is happening.

Both Nancy Pelosi and Janet Napolitano (then head of Homeland Security) referred publically to tea party protestors as “potential terrorists”

So, from the very top Lerner learned that this type of labeling was A-OK and she could get away with it.

Not giving Lerner a pass, just saying the rot starts at the top. Civil servants (and the media) were given carte blanche explicitly or implicitly to go after conservatives, tea party sympathizers or whomever else they top brass viewed as threats.
