Officials at Ohio University are considering mandatory classes for students who get caught smoking on campus as part of a draconian ban on smoking for the upcoming 2015-2016 academic year.

The ban will outlaw every use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes on any part of the 1,850-acre public university campus, reports The Athens News, the local newspaper.

Hmmm. Will they follow the Md. folks and demand urine tests annually to see if there's evidence that you may have been smokin' out behind the gym? Just meet up at the med mj dispensary after class to get the prescription filled and you'll be all better. Do they have/are the working on a medical mj bill in Ohio?

What about gays “smoking” each other? That take more off your life than cigarettes.

It’s all about political correctness. Since homosexuals are an officially recognized grievance group per liberals and politically correct theology, nothing will be said about the health risks of homosexual sex.

LOL! Don’t have the link but saw a medical device from the early 1900’s that pumped smoke up your arse as a viable way to calm someone down due to the immediate nicotine absorption. Or something like that. Thus the “blowing smoke up my a**” phrase I guess. Neither one sounds appealing to me. :>}

Well, I suppose a little negative reinforcement, much like the methods used to “deprogram” homosexuals, could be applied.

By using aversion therapy, the subject can learn/be conditioned into stopping some “undesirable” behavior, but when used to deprogram sexual deviancy, it is supposed to be a “bad thing”.

The path recommended by the self-styled authorities is for the individual to “want” to change. Kind of flies in the face of “voluntary” and “free will”, now doesn’t it?

If they had tried this when I was in college in the late ‘60’s, we would have staged a smoke-in.

With cheap cameras and processors it isn't hard to envision a sort of human "shock collar" capable of determining undesirable behaviors and dealing out instant justice. Heaven help us.

Ah, you forget that gayness is the new “in” thing. Odd how 3% or less of the population has the power to control (or try) the other 97% ain’t it. Any way, the “voluntary” thing reminds me of community service crap. At one time folks were sentenced to it for minor crimes. Now it’s “mandatory” at a lot of schools in order to graduate. HUH? Let’s see, you’re required to volunteer for community service. Yeah, that makes sense. Like “giving back” and “paying it forward”. How about just helping out cause it’s the right/christian thing to do.

Used to listen to Rev Stang on college radio back in the 80’s. Funny stuff back then.

...so tell me this: are they making all those illegal smokers (and I’m sure there are many) take reeducation classes? or is the reprogramming only for American citizens?

Re-education for liberals would have the potential of producing productive individuals for society.

But, since liberalism is a mental disease, is it possible to “educate” a disease out of diseased brains?

Best reason not to start smoking, the TRIPPLE A. Aortic Abdominal aneurysm. Almost all those who have this aneurism were smokers.

My wife’s nephew almost died of it a month ago, and he is just in his 50s.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdominal_aortic_aneurysm

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/abdominal-aortic-aneurysm/basics/symptoms/con-20023784

“Anyone age 60 and older who has risk factors for developing an abdominal aortic aneurysm, such as smoking or a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm, should consider regular screening for the condition. Because being male and smoking significantly increase the risk of abdominal aortic aneurysm, men ages 65 to 75 who have ever smoked cigarettes should have a one-time screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm using abdominal ultrasound.”

That’s my brother’s story, but he was in his 60s when it was discovered and operated on.

Of course, he still smokes.
