The GOP self-destruction is complete: millennials officially hate conservatives (Ultra Barf Alert)
The Guardian ^ | Monday 14 July 2014 | Ana marie Cox

Conservatives are stuck in a perpetual outrage loop. The reappearance of Todd Akin, the horror-movie villain immortality of Sarah Palin, the unseemly celebration of the Hobby Lobby decision – these all speak to a chorus of "la-la-la-can't-hear-you" loud enough to drown out the voice of an entire generation. Late last week, the Reason Foundation released the results of a poll about that generation, the millennials; its signature finding was the confirmation of a mass abandonment of social conservatism and the GOP. This comes at a time when the conservative movement is increasingly synonymous with mean-spirited, prank-like and combative activism and self-important grand gestures. The millennial generation has repeatedly defined itself as the most socially tolerant of the modern era, but one thing it really can't stand is drama.

On 12 April 2007 Cox claimed on Time magazine’s website that she agreed to appear on the Don Imus radio show despite the show’s history of racially and sexually charged content because she wanted to be considered part of the media elite. Cox wrote: “I’m embarrassed to admit that it took Imus’ saying something so devastatingly crass to make me realize that there just was no reason beyond ego to play along. I did the show almost solely to earn my media-elite merit badge.

On 19 January 2009 Cox debuted on Air America Media as their first Washington-based national correspondent.[8] She was a frequent guest on The Rachel Maddow Show, and guest-hosted the show in Maddow’s absence on 4 September 2009. In 2009 Cox also became a contributing editor for Playboy.

On September 26, 2012, book publisher Penguin Group sued Cox for the return of a $81,250 advance and $50,000 in interest, payment for a humorous book Cox agreed in 2006 to produce and never provided to the publisher. Penguin cancelled the book in 2007 when Cox did not forward a manuscript.

. . . the most socially tolerant of the modern era . . .

Outdoing even the Brownshirts of the recent past in that wholesome quality.

While I get the barf ... Millenniala do NOT like Conservatism. It is a group we have truly lost. And unless they are somehow converted (so far they aren’t looking like it) conservatism is dead indeed, as is America.

The youngest generation has been that way for what, the last 2000 years or more?

Nothing new under the sun. The only difference now is, they are much dumber than before.

The rudderless Millenials are sitting in their childhood bedrooms with no prospects for a meaningful life. They are dependent on the work of others for their existence. Why should their opinions about the real world carry any weight?

Post articles with inflammatory titles like this one and you get inflammatory responses and the upshot is that it gets hard to actually discuss the points at issue.

Not so young anymore, and while many of us are preptualy jobless and stuck in school we are not learning how that real world work, and may never learn if the cycle is not broken soon enough.

This is a bit of a manufactured crisis, and Obama knows it. The worse thing for him is for people to pay the cost of his government. This is why Bush’s tax cuts that got rid of the majority of tax payers was so disastrous.

People are innately selfish and when they are not paying the taxes they don’t give a 2nd thought to those who are. its all about me, even as they tell themselves its all about those around them.

Basically.

A coupe years ago, I worked for a marketing company and we prepared materials for some pointy headed Phd who toured the lecture circuit giving talks about millenials.

After seeing his hand book floating around for months and months, one afternoon I opened it up and took a quick read.

The section I read was basically how to attract, hire and manage millennials in your company.

The entire jist of it was--they don't like to work long hours, don't like conventional ways of working, don't like being tied down to a desk for long periods, can't really communicate in old fashioned ways (you know, TALKING) BUT besides this they had SO much to offer. Basically, his advise was, "just let millenials be millennials and be happy with whatever crumbs they give you".

So strange.

Did you see the VA whistleblower today? She said she saw 96 boxes of info veterans had sent in to on their disability claims that were shredded.

They requested some info from me and I sent them a detailed response. They say they never got it. I KNOW what happened to it. I told my wife “That’s okay. The back pay just keeps adding up.”

The millennials are entering their 30’s we should be seeing a lot more of them turning conservative. But i suppose being without a job hurts.

Fiscally conservative, yes. Socially conservative? Not so much.

Social Conservatism is exceptionally bad at explaining “why” in a way Millenials can understand. Its leading exponents think that their core arguments are self-evidently true...but that is only the case for a population educated with the morals and values commonplace in an an earlier time.

You have to learn social values to be socially conservative. Most of that comes from a believe in God, and social principles which are of course forbidden to even speak of in the left’s controlled schools.

Without a socially conservative population base, society does indeed decend into criminal morale collapse that is the defining characteristic of major city’s and the north east. Where Governments now behave as fascist.

“the most socially tolerant of the modern era”

Totally explains all the anti-semitic divestment BS on college campuses.

I know, I was just curious as to what you guys may have to say about this article.

She's being dishonest to ignore the rest of the Reason article that states Millennials are also turning against the big spending, massive regulations, NSA-spying Democrat policies as much as they are opposed to the social conservatism of many Republicans. She's being additionally dishonest in her claims that SoCons and the GOP have lost Millennials. They've never had them in the first place. It is the Democrats that are in danger of losing Millennials.

Reason, a Libertarian outlet concludes that Millennials are turning Libertarian.
