San Francisco officials say something smells funny about a state proposal to rein in water hogs.
The new regulations, expected to be adopted Tuesday, include a statewide ban on washing streets and sidewalks. That could put the brakes on a critical municipal chore in San Francisco: sending out city trucks to spray away the heaps of filth downtown.
"Our very strong concern is that human feces or heavy urination, which we get quite a few complaints about, still get cleaned up," said Public Works Department spokeswoman Rachel Gordon. "Our people are inquiring."

I'll vouch for this. Walking near the Moscone Center one night and some guy squatted right on the curb and took a dump. He could have cared less.
Vacuum it all up and pump it to Pelosi’s grand vineyards.
They use condoms? Seriously, I used to work on Market Street in San Francisco. Nothing surprised me after working there a few years. For example, public fountains at Civic Center/U.N. Plaza on Market regularly have homeless people bathing in them nude during morning commute hours. Or seeing a bum drop his pants, crouch over the curb and dump turds in full view of buses at bus stops. Something for the tourists to snap pics of and send them to relatives "Wish I wasn't here!". Then there's the warning not to touch walls around stairwells in BART subway stations on Market Street, because homeless lean against the wall and dump a smear that travels down the wall to the floor. This goes on every day, and every morning someone is hosing it all away.
Yeah... the water all goes to storm sewers, which go to the ocean, no? So use seawater. Maybe give it a last rinse of freshwater so you don’t get salt deposits. But definitely, seawater.
And of course the liberals don’t want to bust this up.
Soylent Brown.
But by all means don’t attempt to get rid of the bums.
A city by the bay can’t seem to find water. Idiots.
Well, at least one of them used a condom. I can’t figure out why anyone would want to live in that city regardless of their political beliefs or who they prefer to sleep with, it’s just a filthy hellhole. Though, I am sure it was once a nice place to live.
There's a lot of good stuff. I was at a wedding yesterday at a nearby golf course with beautiful wooded hills, lakes and the bay and great weather. Here's something I posted to another thread yesterday, as to why people want to live there.
"SF was just lucky to be positioned near beneficial job growth. Mediteranean-type weather, calm weather port, focal point for the gold and silver rush, shipbuilding for wars and staging for the military, west endpoint of the continental railroad, port for central valley produce, large universities known world-wide, nuclear research, Silicon Valley technology growth, genetics research, the list goes on and on. And people wonder why anyone would want to live here. Follow the money."
