Is there common ground for supporters of gun rights and gun control to stop random, senseless shootings in this country? Perhaps.
Hours after the awful shooting at Seattle Pacific University, Mayor Ed Murray appeared on campus and said, “Once again the epidemic of gun violence has come to Seattle — the epidemic of gun violence that is haunting this nation.” Other politicians, activists and liberal clergy echoed his words.
It will surprise the mayor and many other people to learn that gun violence isn’t rising in America, it’s falling. In fact, it’s plummeting. Gun deaths are down nearly 40 percent in the last 20 years, despite an increase in population and a rise in gun ownership. The Bureau of Justice Statistics points out an even more dramatic number: Non-fatal gun crimes free-fell 69 percent during that same period.

Well, first, we have to understand what it really is, "mentally ill violence", but that won't fit the meme of the gun-grabbers.
It was the liberal's idea to free the nuts from the mental wards ("It's inhumane to keep them locked up!!") and that created the homeless "problem", which they promptly blamed on Reagan.
Never mind that most of them actually prefer to be on the street rather than in shelters (which are deplorable, but again, the libs say, "At least we're trying!!" - Blech).
The rest are free to live at home with family but are still nuttier than a fruitcake and need serious guidance. You know, like liberals do!

According to the thought process(?) of libs/progs/commies/socialists/dimokkkrats, just the mere thought of possessing a firearm are grounds for being labled kah-ray-zee. Hmm, so where do gabby and mark kelley-giffords fall in that case? We know they support the 2nd Amendment right? ;>}
Under the new DSM-V there are so many mental illnesses and so many criteria for those mental illnesses that virtually everyone on the planet can be diagnosed with a clinical mental disorder.
And a huge rise it has been. I don’t know the exact numbers but some reports that 48% of households have firearms? So, with all the firearms purchases, looks like somebody must be trying to replace weapons lost in boating accidents. ;>}
Roger that. Gotta be careful what you mention to your doctor, the nurse, the PA or anyone else associated with your health care. If I got a hang-nail, they don’t need to know if I’m depressed because of it. ;>}
No. There isn’t common ground.
The mentally ill are a small segment of society. One the rest of us should be at all times armed against.
Nothing that interferes with that Right can be legitimate.
The most important fact the article lays out is the 69% fall in non-fatal “gun crimes”. I’ve heard leftists try to attribute the fall in “gun deaths” to improved trauma care, and while there is some truth in that, the fact that “gun crimes” have dropped precipitously in a period when firearms ownership has become easier and more wide-spread is proof that the left’s analysis of the issue overall is not (as leftists like to claim for their positions) reality-based.
Your family doctor isn’t, anymore. He’s a government collector of personal data which can & will be used against you in the interests of public safety.

LOL! Recently went to the Doc with my wife and as usual the “forms” needed to be updated. Holy Crap! The list of effnicitys and races(?)[choose one that applies?] was mind boggling. Oddly enough we didn’t see any european, slavic, mediterranean, norse “races” listed. Well, except for hiss-panic that is. Now that’s crazy. I, if I pick anything, check “other” and fill in “human” on the blank line.
I’ve seen data that says: about 1/3 on the street, 1/3 at home, and 1/3 incarcerated (jail or prison).
One of the game plans is to make psychiatrists the gatekeepers for who may own a gun. When the inevitable shooting occurs, persecute the doctor who said the person was “stable”.
Doctors immediately stop allowing people to have guns. No appeals allowed, or if done, very expensive.
The number of people with legal guns can be eroded to nothing with this method.
I think I am Hispanic now. Some of my mother’s ancestors were the Spanish settlers in Pensacola. Since what you think you are now works for gender, why not ethnicity?
