Truckee, California.
I was there to deal with some family stuff and get away from some family stuff. There I came across the taker and the risk-taker.
After being away from this little town outside of Lake Tahoe for at least 3 decades, I sensed a change. A once dusty, mountain-littered, gritty little shit-kicking town was now swamped with luxury cabins owned by Obama voters and Norcal Landlords (one and the same, likely). They dont fit the clichéd landlord, for they only ask that you not wear shoes on the expensive paneled floors and wash the bedding afterward. Dont flush things wider than your arm.
My first stop was a rec center, shared by a sprawling neighborhood of chalets, lodges, and cottages. Yelping kids frolicked in the pool, a body of water featuring a stern sign banning anyone who has, or had, a semblance of diarrhea in the last few weeks. That could be me, any time in my life. Jamie Lee Curtis couldnt save me if she airdropped a pallet of Activia.

great piece
I’ll join you...and invite you to join me....to drink to anybody who’s been forced through the working of tyranny in CA to close up shop here and mov elsewhere in order to make a profit.
In California, you can leave your heart in San Francisco and your liver in Truckee.
Great piece of rambling prattle in my opinion.
—can relate to this, having had a hippie girlfriend who lived in the Truckee, Tahoe City , and Incline, NV area thirty-odd years ago-—
You don’t think it’s interesting how he talks about the people who won’t work? Other than claiming it’s the white ones, I did notice that
Surprised the pool sign doesn’t ban Baby Ruths also.
It might have interested me, but frankly, connection the Poo-theme of the article throughout is off putting and wasn’t necessary. I’m sure he thought it was cute, but in the end it was poo to me.
I couldn’t get past the 5 paragraph, unfortunately. Humor has really got to be short, short, short. But who knew he grew up in Truckee?
... "... So .... A Muslim, A Communist, and A Marxist walk into a bar .... The bartender says ..." Hello Mr. President!"
Great Article by Greg.
When we skied and even after we stopped skiing, Truckee was one of our favorite places to spend a few days or a week.
My wife and I, after we stopped skiing would take the Amtrac up and stay at the local hotel for a few days and nites and come back in the summer time or early fall.
Slowly, but surely the elite liberals from Marin, Gay Frisco and the East Bay started taking over the businesses and the town like they have in Oregon and New Mexico.
Often, they were, as my wife would say, “The in your face lieberals!” After one of our Amtrac trips and running into rabid Liberals, during the Clinton raping and pillaging era, my wife said no more. Food prices in the restaurants had got higher than gay Frisco and the portions grew smaller on each trip up.
After I retired, I would go up in my OJ Simpson Bronco to fly fish and deer hunt in the north Truckee areas if I got drawn for the hunt. I often got a lot of flak re my pro Rebublican bumper stickers. If I got a deer, I enjoyed strapping the dead/gutted deer on top my spare tire on the spare tire mount on the outside of the tail gate. The remaining deer blood would drip down over the rear bumber and my stickers.
I enjoyed driving to the forestry station to check in the deer, and then driving through Truckee to get to the butcher to have my deer butchered. The locals and other hunters would give a thumbs up, and the liebrals looked like they were ready to puke or fight me.
I fly fished on some of the streams up there and in the Truckee River. Often there were a lot rattlers on the back trails and two legged homeless snakes drugging it out in the outback begging for money.
I had a chest holster which fitted over my flyfishing waders. In that holster I carried my long barreled stainless steel 357 with a couple of 38 snake loads up front in the cylinder with hollow points coming up next.
After blasting one or two rattlers on the way to the water to fish. I never had to worry about liberal fly fishing water poachers getting to close to cast their flies. The two legged homeless snakes left me alone to the water and from the water.
Ping!
