Yep, that tracks then. What made her a fast tracker? Was it commanding the dock landing ship USS Rushmore or was it being an XO on a different dock landing ship during the Bosnia campaign or was it being in charge of an expeditionary strike group in 2009?
Those are Navy things, and I know nothing about them. Which does the Navy consider extremely impressive?
it took 17 years to get an active sea command ????
she was the first African-American female to command a ship... this was in March 1999...
i disagree... honestly, i do not think she chose her career... i think it chose her... i think she answered a calling... that is my opinion... it is also my opinion that not everybody gets a calling...
How many women today do you know that would devote their life to serving our country in the military?
Kudos to the new General.......
i am glad you mentioned that... my husband and i were not able to conceive... i had written something about infertility but decided to delete it... i see nothing wrong with a couple deciding not to have children... i cannot see judging someone for that very personal decision... seems this woman can do just nothing right... ridiculous...
On the contrary, my comment makes no assumption about this individual married couple, their ability or inability to have children because of age or other reasons. I do not even assume that they have no children, just because none are mentioned in the news article. But it remains true, and sad, that many families in our culture no longer see children as a blessing, but as an inconvenience. This pervasive phenomenon is broader than the possible example of one couple. One comment above(#23), however, does speculate that the absence of children, for whatever reason, is “probably” part of the reason why the new admiral was able to achieve so much. Why?
It was a classless comment that had absolutely no bearing or meaning in the discussion.
