Dear God - the savages drink camel piss.
What does it matter where it originates, other than we need to look into quarantining it?
S’just camel urine. What’s the big deal???
PING!
The wondrous blessing of camel urine — among other things, it gives mankind the opportunity to build up a resistance to MERS!
DANG!
Hinkle testified before a Food and Drug Administration panel in 2009 and helped get camels milk put under laws governing the sale of milk, allowing states to govern its sale. For instance, in North Carolina, milk sold must be pasteurized, although no one is currently selling camels milk in the state, she said. In South Carolina, milk can be sold raw.
Nanny State PING!
Sounds a lot like ‘famous last words’.
There is a camel milk dairy in Colorado that produces camel milk for sale and export that adheres to the 1966 Grade A Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (current version). The owner handles his cows just like a dairy farmer would and his milk is tested for coliforms. I think this form of camel milk production is as safe as our milk production from cows. There is a expanding market for camel’s milk as it doesn’t have the allergens that are common to our domestic cows milk and is tolerated by the lactose intolerant.
Ping, in case you missed this.
The cattle-raising tribes of Africa combine fresh cow's blood with cow urine and cows milk as a staple of their diet. They live in huts plastered with cow manure; use manure and urine to dress their hair; use it as a protective cosmetic.
Camel meat is quite tasty. It's tender and does not have much fat. There is no part of the camel that is not used. BTW, there are no wild camels left in KSA. Every beast belongs to someone. Wild camels come from Australia, where they are rounded up for meat, which is processed and exported. They also export live camels.
Warning: Camel hide leather and camel hair are also processed with ... you guessed it ...camel urine. Many more Muslims would emigrate to the US, but they cannot break the emotional bonds and leave their camel's behind.
camel urine.... is a gift from Muhammad to mankind

Yeah well that idiocy fits...
I worry that this sort disease can spread to other animals like the Hunta (?) virus has become common among ground squirrels in some parts of the country even though it was once thought to be only in mice. It goes from the urinary tract of a camel to humans, can it go from humans to other mammals, that sort of concern.

Ahhh, ignorance raises it's ugly head again. It amazes me at those so jealous of others keep repeating stories with only a bit of truth to them, but speak as if it is a sensational situation. I see much jealousy from the self-designated "dog pack", as they keep repeating the same old tired complaints.
I love it here in the Philippines. I have a nice house, two housekeepers, and a wife which dotes on me as much as I do her. I left the Armed Forces Retirement Home to come here to live. There, I was surrounded by old people. Here I am surrounded by laughter and joyful people living a good life. Not everyone has money, but even the poor folk here are happy to be a live!!!
From a report in the Examiner Newspaper from April 16 of this year.
...MANILA, Philippines After a Filipino casualty in the United Arab Emirates, an overseas Filipino worker who recently arrived in Manila was tested positive for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (MERS-CoV).
Health Secretary Enrique Ona said Wednesday the OFW, who is a nurse, had contact with the victim who died in UAE.
The male health worker is now on quarantine.
In a television interview, Ona said that four members of the OFWs family who fetched him at the Ninoy Aquino International Aquino were also quarantined.
He clarified that so far the four have not yet experienced the symptoms of the virus, which include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and diarrhea. ...
...On Twitter, Health Undersecretary Eric Tayag said that with the OFWs case, the Philippines has become the 12th country and the first in Asia outside the Middle East with laboratory-confirmed MERS-CoV. But there were reports that a Malaysian was the first person in Asia to succumb to the virus.*
*Hint Marcella: Malaysia is an Island!

Do not worry about Marcella. He/She is one of the “FR (dog in a manger) club members”. They think it is criminal for an American to enjoy their retirement in other countries, rather then living in the Obamination. My living on Cebu is their favorite subject, and I am obviously their favorite whipping boy, haha. You should read some of their vile and childish post to me, laden with profanity. Any post with the the Philippines mentioned really gets their panties in a twist.
Yes their are plenty of Philippine OFWs around the world and in the middle east, but America is just as much at risk, as any country, from incoming middle east travelers.
One of the factors keeping H5N1 from gaining H2H transmissibility is that humans are a dead-end host for the virus. Since its reservoir is birds, the selective pressures on the virus are for it to maintain its avian-optimized infectivity and transmissibility profile. The bigger fear with H5N1 is that it can infect a host such as swine where it would have the opportunity to swap genes with another influenza virus.
With MERS, we are somewhat handicapped in that we do not know what kinds of mutations would make it easily transmissible. At least, since its genome consists of a single RNA strand, recombination with a more transmissible coronavirus (like the one that causes common colds) is not very likely.
Thanks for the ping.
And it makes sense, since Camels lactate only after they give birth and need their baby present in order to lactate and then they only produce milk for 90 seconds.
What? 90 seconds is a pretty short lactation period for any animal. Dairy cows go 9 months.
It’s amazing how susceptible we are to crap from other parts of the world.
We knocked out most of the horrible viruses and dangerous bacteriological entities here in the States, but since we have administrations that let just anybody in, without quarantine or medical testing (like we USED to do, but I guess that was “racist” or something, we’re told...), we are wide open.
Tuberculosis, cholera, even bubonic plague still occasionally rear their ugly heads.
There was a gentleman raising money for some troop support group (didn’t see what) with an “Infidel” tee shirt on at Walmart yesterday.
Gave him $20. It was worth the look from the lady in the headscarf.
