That is pretty clever. If you can convince people to fly planes into buildings for Allah, why can’t you convince them to bring MERS in and cough on as many people as possible. Get them working at restaurants etc.
It would be a damn good plot and could go virtually undetected. The TSA gropes cannot pick up microscopic organisms.

The killer disease, MERS, is in the Philippines. Those islands are the only islands affected - other cases are in large countries, not islands. I wouldn’t want to be on an island because space is limited to get away from the disease. Only way, I would think, to get away from it on an island is to leave the island.
There is one case in the US and that was a health worker who had been over there working and he was hospitalized here quickly and no one has been infected by him and he was recovering the last I heard a few days ago.

I’m not particularly worried about this one for two reasons. First of all, transmission is believed to require extended exposure with an infected person, somewhat like tuberculosis. Second, it takes a lot of the virus to establish an infection.
This is why the spread has been slow, even in low hygiene place with intermittent high density populations, that is, large numbers of people assembling for some purpose or other.
