Climate change causing fish to lose their minds, researchers say

Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts.

In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported.

The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on.

Carbon dioxide will leave a warming ocean, and lower the acidity.

If the oceans were warming, there would be less CO2

There you go being factual again! You must be one of those conservative Deniers.

Yes, I have noticed that lately that the pike usually prefer the deluxe worms raised in rose gardens.

Now for some strange reason they prefer the worms that we get from the daffodil garden.

Strange.....

Gee, so how did fish survive during the last global heat wave, when the land I am on was 20’+ below Lake Michigan’s surface?

It is probably because of all the drugs the fish did back when they were kids.

The oceans are NOT acidic. The pH is >7 and will continue to be so.

I believe that is was an ancient GLOBAL WARMING that altered the eating habits of SHARKS. It because so uncomfortably warm that the descendants of fish that had left the sea for dry land were forced to go back to the cooling waters of the oceans.
That was when the sharks found it was much less work to find lunch when lunch could not swim away into deeper water. Also, the effort expended to catch a single human resulted in a much larger and diverse menu.
The question is: Will a future COOLING drive another ocean dwelling specie to invade dry land for security, thus causing future conflicts for control of the land?

They ought to have all gone mad and died.

The acidic waters...

Ocean water is not acidic, the author is ignorant or deceitful. Either way, the article is unfit for publication.

They're not acidic. Their pH is still above 8.

They want us to feel gill-ty, but they have been weighed in the scales and found wanting. They need to be sent to grouper therapy. They can probably join for a couple of fins.
