Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts.
In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported.
The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on.

Seems to me that the researchers are the ones losing their minds. Why did not fish lose their minds during the episodes of past great warming and cooling?

The solubility of CO2 in water decreases as the water’s temperature increases. If the oceans were warming, there would be less CO2 dissolved in the water, not more. With increasing temperature, the oceans would outgas CO2 and become less acidic, not more acidic.
Funny I’ve been thinking a lot about fishing lately. I wonder if all those lost fish minds are streaming into my own. Hmmmm maybe I can get a grant if I write this up nicely.
