PPP's newest Texas poll finds Republicans leading by double digits in all of the state's major races for 2014.
In the Governor's race Greg Abbott's at 51% to 37% for Wendy Davis. ------snip----- There's been some thought that Democratic prospects might be better in the race for Lieutenant Governor but Leticia Van de Putte actually trails by slightly more than Davis, regardless of who her Republican opponent ends up being. Dan Patrick leads her by 16 points at 51/35. ------snip----- Although it hasn't really been on anyone's radar screen the likely US Senate match up between John Cornyn and David Alameel is actually just about as competitive as the state races. Cornyn leads the contest 49/32.

Its good to HOPE, but please tell us where you came up with that 99.9%. Like most economic migrations, personal political persuasion like not a key factor and although and like other migrations, the migrators try to bring their sorry politics with them.
“Im afraid he will stick his foot in his mouth often enough that we might come to have mixed feelings”
Not when the alternative is Dewhurst. I would have preferred Jerry Patterson, but Patrick has shown courage in the past and will be a vast improvement. Now, who will rid us of that troublesome Speaker, Straus?
“arent 99.9% of those fleeing to Texas conservatives?”
YES. Liberals don’t want to come here, just like we conservatives wouldn’t go to New York City or Chicago.
Also, our state party has opened offices in mostly Hispanic areas this year in order to get our message out to them. Texas Republicans are not lying down and doing nothing.
“It will be a tough road for P Bush.”
He will win against the Democrat. The majority of Republicans punch straight ticket Republican in the voting booth. I don’t want a Democrat as Land Commissioner as that affects oil and gas leases and well drilling.
Our state major offices are all Republican. Do not want a Democrat ever elected to one.
I, too, think he is a loose cannon but it's him or millionaire Dewhurst who is a wimp. I think Dewhurst’s money makes him too comfortable to take on a fight with Democrats.
Dewhurst and picture ID:
I was heavily working with our state party the SECOND OR THIRD TIME WE TRIED TO GET PICTURE ID, and we needed one more vote in the senate to get it and it had already passed the House. Then, a Democrat was out due to being in a hospital and Dewhurst REFUSED TO BRING UP PICTURE ID to vote. State Republicans, including me, were furious at him. He said he wanted to wait until the Democrat came back. That was also when George Bush was president, no Holder or anyone at the federal level to mess with us if we passed it.
We lost getting Picture ID that year due to Dewhurst. He is such a freaking pansy. I hope no Texas Freeper votes for him.
In other news, dog bites man, water is wet, and the sun rose in the east this morning.
“Now, who will rid us of that troublesome Speaker, Straus?”
I think his reign is over as his key House member supporters lost their primary election to other conservatives. I did read this somewhere, maybe in the Austin newspaper.
Where is the link to those polls?
It can’t come too soon. Straus and Dewhurst have nullified our conservative majority for years.
As I explained earlier, I don't have one.
Both were reported on FreeRepublic within the past few months.
What do you mean earlier, on different threads?
If you won’t post the source for your claims, don’t you think you should quit claiming it?
I'm not in the habit of saving a link to every factoid I might encounter in the course of a week. But, if I saw the poll reports and recall their findings, why not refer to them? Why would I not share this information with other FReepers?
Does the possible existence of such info conflict with your beliefs?
If so, you're free to take it for what it's worth and complain that I don't have a link. Which you've done...and to which I've responded honestly.
OK, in a court of law, that qualifies as "hearsay evidence". But does that disqualify it from being grist for the mill in a forum discussion like this one?
You are quoting a poll to us on thread after thread, show us the poll, we have know idea if you are telling the truth.
We can’t examine the poll, or even know if it exists, yet you use it as your fundamental argument.
Reading your response to such a basic FR request for a source, you don’t really seem like the kind of person that one should take at face value.
I'm just sharing with other FReepers one of the things that I've gleaned from being on this forum for over 16 years.
Don't quibble or quail, ansel. Go ahead and accuse me of being a bald-faced liar. You're free to do so. I've no defense, other than I don't keep links on everything I might read.
You aren’t sharing, that is why we keep asking for you to share the source, can’t you look it up?
The Republican who performs best among Hispanic voters is the candidate who is most vocally against amnesty...and he is matched against the only Hispanic Democrat candidate in the statewide races.
Lt. Gov.
Dan Patrick (R)..............35 (-6)
Letitia van de Putte (D)..41
Dan Dewhurst (R)...........33 (-10)
Letitia van de Putte (D)..43
Governor
Abbott (R)....................33 (-10)
Wendy Davis (D)...........43
U.S. Senator
John Cornyn (R).............27 (-14)
David Alameel (D).........41
Land Comm'r
George P. Bush (R)........37 (-10)
John Cook (D).............47
Thus, Hispanic voters in Texas exhibit significantly more support for the R candidate who most strongly resists amnesty...and they do so even though Patrick is running against the ONLY statewide Democrat Hispanic candidate!
As to your #34, dammit, I've searched for them -- but I'm unable find them. I know they're there -- either cited on a thread or linked thru a thread -- but running searches isn't a particular skill of mine.
Accordingly, you're free to distrust me and believe that I made the whole thing up...
Until you can find the polls so that we can look at them, how about just not using them anymore, it seems simple enough to me, and is what most of us would do.
Actually, ansel, that's pretty short-sighted.
There are times when some of us have knowledge that the rest of the FReepers on a thread may not have.
E.g., I give you Buckhead on the famous Dan Rather thread -- who gave us the insight of the letters being in default Word format, with Times New Roman font. Something that I did not initially recognize (nor did anybody else), but was able to confirm with my own professional experience with the typesetting/typography of the era.
Should Buckhead have kept his keyboard quiet, as you suggest?
If you don't mind, I'll continue to contribute my personal knowledge and experience to a thread whenever it's appropriate -- even if I may not have a link for it.
You are, of course, free to ignore me. And I you.
You are citing percentages from polls, hard facts, show us the polls.
“In other news, dog bites man, water is wet, and the sun rose in the east this morning.”
Actually we’ve been being LECTURED TO by the Democrats and the media that we would turn blue, maybe even this year, due to the explosive growth of the Hispanic-speaking population (as Rush once them), especially if we didn’t push Amnesty. And this year, they were convinced they’d found a great candidate for the top of the ticket - but thankfully she wasn’t fully vetted.
The Dems were really confident and a lot of Republican leaders were scared. Take away the growth of Hispanics, and then I’d agree...Texas would be red forever.
