Not impressed. “Fair” is in the eye of the beholder. Many who think it’s unfair are anti-tax, but many more think it is not progressive enough.
Those polled are the ones who don’t pay any.
That means nearly 40% of those surveyed believe strongly in redistribution of moneys earned. The other 61% are mixed in whether or not redistribution is fair, or to what extent. That’s scary to me.
Most of the 39% who think the system is fair probably pay little or no tax.
The 40 percent think it’s fair I guess.
There’s that number again.........................
The 39% that gets an EITC, no doubt.
That 39% who love taxes and government are democrats
democrats are little children, big babies who trust idiots in government to take care of them and to run the civilization. ridiculous , government can’t even run a housing project nor a government school , much less the millions of daily transactions of the free market run by crack professionals working with their own money.government morons take months to approve an action (a permit) etc.. who are government to tell us what we can or can’t do when socialism/government can never even work in the first place?
How many of the 61% think it is too low because they don’t pay it?
39% must not pay taxes.
Maybe they got the earned income credit.
39%. That would be all the takers, wouldn’t it?
Let's see, something like 49.5% pay 0 or negative income taxes. I assume those think what they pay is "about right." So, that leaves 4.5% that pay income tax that think what they pay is about right. Those are probably the ones paying barely any income tax or think the government is giving them money when they get a refund. Let's do a survey of folks that actually have a positive tax liability and see the results. I'm taxed too much. Even if the dollar value is doable, when I see what it is spent on, any amount I am taxed is obviously too much.
Those who take from others think that the tax system is just. Those who work their a$$es off to pay for the lazy slobs, think it is unfair, unjust, confiscatory, and unworthy of a free society.
The Brown Clown made 12 times what I made and was in the 20% tax bracket and I was in the 25%! Something stinks!
This “progressive” tax system disincentivizes people from working harder to make more money.
It makes no sense (except to a progressive).
Everyone gets a person exemption that would be equal to the federal poverty level, and that's it.
Married, single, 10 dependents or none at all, everyone pays the same flat rate.
Your wife taking a part-time job wouldn't kick you into a higher bracket, her earnings would quite likely be tax free. She would also have that personal exemption up to poverty level, ditto for everyone else in the household.
Since the tax form would be the size of a postcard, each filling one out would be no big deal.
The working poor would have an incentive to earn more because every extra dime would only be taxed at a small percentage that everyone pays.
They wouldn't have to worry about bumping up their earnings and paying taxes on the total amount, that personal exemption would never go away.
This would be a lot smaller issue if the tax bite were itself smaller.
Odd how that 40% number keeps popping up for everything pro government?.
