Black Bear Mauls Florida Woman, Drags Her Out of Garage
Yahoo ^ | 4-13-2014 | LIZ FIELDS

Posted on 04/13/2014 2:43:20 PM PDT by Darren McCarty

The hunt is on today for a black bear who mauled a woman at her home in an upscale central Florida neighborhood, leaving her with injuries to her face, legs and torso and requiring her to get 40 stitches to the head.

Terri Frana of Lake Mary, Fla., went to her garage Saturday evening to grab bicycles for her children to ride down to their neighbor's house when the attack happened, according to her husband, Frank Frana.

As soon as the children left, Frana, 45, saw two bears in the driveway. She walked to the patio area where there were five bears eating trash that they had pulled out of the garage, her husband said.

"The bear got up on [its] hind legs and started to maul her, opened its jaws and put her head in the mouth and dragged her towards the woods," Frank Frana said. "Somehow she was able to pull herself out."

"The bears were various sizes so we think it's probably cubs of different maturity and perhaps a mama bear," the Seminole County Sheriff's Office told ABC News.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said there was at least one bear involved in the attack but couldn't corroborate the report that there had been five bears.

Frana managed to get inside the house, said her husband. Her son found her collapsed in the living room and called 911. She was then taken to a local hospital where she was treated for at least three bear bites and several cuts all over her body.

Frana was released from the hospital Sunday morning and is recovering at home, her husband said.

A million years ago when future hubby was young, dumb and showing off his he-man self, he kicked a bear for me. One night I thought there was a bear outside so, armed with nothing but a camera flash, he went out to chase it off. He snuck up on it, gave it a swift kick in the backside and turned to flee only to fall flat into the snow and couldn’t get up because the kick nearly broke his foot. Turns out the sun had melted a big boulder so it looked like a bear in the moonlight. The next morning as everyone came down for breakfast, each one commented on the flashing lightening the night before. Hubby ducked his head and didn’t say a word.

Liberalism kills brain cells. Leftism kills lots of brain cells. Environmentalism turns brains into oatmeal. The people in the video were all probably born with normal IQs but have voluntarily chosen mental retardation.

OK, that stirred up a dormant memory of an old joke...
that went something like this...
If I am out in the woods and I see a bear,
how do I know if it is a black bear, a brown bear, or a grizzly bear?

If you are in the woods and see a bear, run for the nearest tree.
If it is a black bear it will chase you to the tree.
If it is a brown bear, it will climb up the tree to get you.
If it is a grizzly bear, you won’t make it to the tree.

Most folks don't know, because the environazis don't want you to know; black bears are responsible for about 95% of the bear mauling's and bear related fatalities in the lower 48 states.
I don't bother them until they do live stock predation and property damage to my farm; when they get to that point, they are a danger to my family so I just kill them.

I like trees myself, and was out taking pictures of them today. The folks in that video, though, are out of their minds.

I live 10 miles from Lake Mary (Wekiva\Lake Brantley area). I have pictures of black bears walking through my yard (5pm). A 300lb black bear was laying by the front door of my neighbor. A couple years ago I saw a big one walking down our main road, this was on Halloween evening. I called the police. They said thanks for calling. That bear could have killed a child out that night. Now we have Coyotes. I have a 5 year old son. No way would we let him play alone, even in the front yard. Too dangerous. Bears all over the place where I live and they know which days are trash days. It’s just a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or killed in my area from a bear. They need to be trapped and relocated (or shot)

I can’t confirm it, but rumor has it that those are actually over-tanned polar bears that migrated from the North Pole ice packs due to Global Warming causing a shortage of frozen food.

WE got bears galore along the Upper Yukon. When bears come outta hibernation, no food until snow melts off and we get some rain and grass comes up. So both grizz & blk bear come around looking for something to eat.

Few years back this one spacey neighbor of mine left dried salmon on his fish racks, he fed his dogs salmon from river. Grizz came in was tearing up the racks. Neighbor who is usually smoked up and scared of his own shadow comes out with 308 and bangs the grizz, then runs into his cabin cause the bear looked right at him and pissed off and tearing at the wound. So neighbor shoots through broken window that had plastic on and hits grizz again. Grizz heads off into the woods, busting trees down with his jaws, hollaring up a storm.Neighbor got his nerve up and tracked bear, scared outta his mind, had visons of the grizz laying in wait to eat him, ha ha. Anyway, he found the bear dead and skinned it out, tanned hide. Still drags out dusty hide to tell his story if ya get him drunk. It really scared the bejesus outta him just the same.

The most dangerous blk bear age wise are the 2 year old boars, they don't think right at times and always seem to want to get a taste of you.

I live on the other side of Lake Mary and there have been several bears in our neighborhood. One night one came through my back yard. I have an Akita (bear hunters) and she nearly went through the back sliding glass door when she saw it.

The problem we have here is that people think the bears are “cute.”

Well, they are cute. Lots of dangerous critters are cute. People too. Hottest Women in Prison
