"Video of that confrontation spread on the Internet, along with blog commentary claiming excessive government force and calls to arms from self-described militia leaders. Some have invoked references to deadly confrontations with federal authorities, including a siege of a ranch home in Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in 1992 and the fiery destruction of a religious compound near Waco, Texas, that killed 76 people in 1993."

Well that was expected. They’ll try to torment him through bureaucracy, harder to fight.

The federal gubmint should not own land, or push private citizens off land.

Its predictable, attack in a manner now that cannot be stopped as before.
Would not be surprised to suddenly hear that all of his cows have been tested and found to have Mad Cow disease or something.

But a “kingpin” pun intended is Reid and company.

Might be time for meeting in Nevada. . . .

After this brouhaha, every conservative legal eagle and constitutional scholar in the United States willl be lining up to represent Bundy. I’m guessing he’ll do all right and Obama and his minions will end up grinding their teeth.

"in order to avoid violence and help restore order."

Smirking at this. They know we have had enough of federal jackboot behavior. I don't care what they say to save face, the people won this one and it is historical imo. I send honor and gratitude to those who were there representing us.

They are going to need legal representation, that’s for sure. I believe it was the family’s spokesman on Judge Pirro last night who said “What the family needs now is sleep and legal representation.” It surprised me that they didn’t have an attorney or attorneys already.

Well they can hide their emminent domain landgrab behind a dollar figure if they want but somewhere I heard there were 160 cattle dead and I’m sure more than a few in rough shape. Considering the present and future value of those cattle, a reasonable person might say any debt should be considered paid in full and future fees paid at least a few years in advance, considerin’.

It would appear that the Feds have spent over $1 Million trying to round up the cattle and tick off the locals

“...Federal agency vows to continue legal action...”

Of course they will. FedZilla and his Thugocracy MUST be obeyed!!

Can’t look like they lost and let the “Little People” think they actually have power now, can they...

Believe the Japanese called it “Losing Face” or words to that effect???

So many questions that demand answers.
The guys here at work have no clue what’s going on. Many are saying the Feds are in the right.
If it wasn’t for the internet (And, of course, you, J.R.), that family would be dead in the dirt.
And the Feds would be high-fiving each other for the rest of the month.

Happy for him, but a bit depressed at the record in regards to the courts. Randy Weaver was at least found not guilty and “compensated”, but the government thugs involved weren’t punished in the slightest, and the folks at Waco were pretty much told to go get stuffed. I don’t expect things to be better now, especially with dear leader and holder running things.

“We ask that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding ...”

They who had snipers there...

The Law becomes very important at times to those who do not defend our borders and who cannot show the clause in the Constitution that permits them to own 80% of NV.

I’m not at all surprised. This was a skirmish. BLM called in muscle for a strategic withdrawal.

BLM references “former” Bunkerville Allotment, BLM references “illegal cattle”.

The way the federal government acted this week reminded me of the same type behavior regarding their shutdown. Pre printed signs telling people where they can stand etc.

I figure the next time they decide to harass people, the people won’t know they are coming.

"After 20 years and multiple court orders to remove the trespass cattle, [rancher Cliven] Bundy owes the American taxpayers in excess of $1 million. The BLM will continue to work to resolve the matter administratively and judicially," a statement from the bureau said. "We ask that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding as the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service work to end the operation in an orderly manner."

Wasn't there news recently about Al Sharpton or some other luminary that owed back rent up in Harlem or somewhere and the taxpayers ended up bailing him out? Where is the government 'taking further legal action' on this? The fed arbitrarily writes off debt, both good and bad, every minute of the day. This is just pig headed stubbornness and oppression for oppression's sake, IMO.

I was heartened to see us win a battle. But, do not mistake, this was only a battle. The war will be a much longer, much harder slog. I fully expect to number among its dead.

Very important lesson for bureaucrats:

Never mess with people who have nothing to lose.
