Federal agency vows to continue legal action after ending Nevada ranch standoff [BLM v Bundy]
FOX News ^ | April 13, 2014 | Edmund DeMarche, Matt Finn and the AP contributed to this report

The Bureau of Land Management vowed Saturday that it would continue its legal fight to remove illegal cattle from a rural Nevada range after ending a tense weeklong standoff with a rancher and his supporters.

"After 20 years and multiple court orders to remove the trespass cattle, [rancher Cliven] Bundy owes the American taxpayers in excess of $1 million. The BLM will continue to work to resolve the matter administratively and judicially," a statement from the bureau said. "We ask that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding as the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service work to end the operation in an orderly manner."

The BLM also announced that it was wrapping up its month-long operation to seize the 900 cattle roaming on federally owned land approximately 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas and would release the 400 head of Bundy's cattle it had already seized "in order to avoid violence and help restore order."

"Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public," the statement read.," the statement read.

Bureau officials had dismantled designated protest areas supporting Bundy, who they say refuses to comply with the "same laws that 16,000 public land ranchers do every year."

A group of about 1,000 supporting Bundy cheered and sang "The Star Spangled Banner" when BLM made its announcement.

Happy for him, but a bit depressed at the record in regards to the courts. Randy Weaver was at least found not guilty and “compensated”, but the government thugs involved weren’t punished in the slightest, and the folks at Waco were pretty much told to go get stuffed. I don’t expect things to be better now, especially with dear leader and holder running things.

“We ask that all parties in the area remain peaceful and law-abiding ...”

They who had snipers there...

The Law becomes very important at times to those who do not defend our borders and who cannot show the clause in the Constitution that permits them to own 80% of NV.

I’m not at all surprised. This was a skirmish. BLM called in muscle for a strategic withdrawal.

BLM references “former” Bunkerville Allotment, BLM references “illegal cattle”.

Dingy Harry's butt boy, Neil Kornze should face a House committee and answer a few questions beginning with, “Describe your communications with Senator Reid and his staff regarding the Bundy ranch.”

Also, Reid should face recrimination and questions from fellow senators on the floor of the senate. Bait the old buzzard into a spittle spewing defense of himself.

The way the federal government acted this week reminded me of the same type behavior regarding their shutdown. Pre printed signs telling people where they can stand etc.

I figure the next time they decide to harass people, the people won’t know they are coming.

Wasn't there news recently about Al Sharpton or some other luminary that owed back rent up in Harlem or somewhere and the taxpayers ended up bailing him out? Where is the government 'taking further legal action' on this? The fed arbitrarily writes off debt, both good and bad, every minute of the day. This is just pig headed stubbornness and oppression for oppression's sake, IMO.

Irritate him with red tape, MSM attacks to defamate his character and portray as a right winger who wanted “free” land to graze his cattle on while he gets rich selling cattle (we KNOW this what the left will do; they are so predictable), bs lawsuits to force him to appear in court, find other ways to bleed his income dry and force him into bankruptcy (baically all soft irritation tactics), and NSA intel to monitor his communications and movements to find an exploitable character flaw.

The left won’t considerthe history involved or see the true reason BLM agents arrived to boot his cattle off the land to make he and his sons rich using a ruse. They won’t get or understand that the government us made up of selfish who attained their power by exploiting their positions and “bullying” others. That won’t understand why this is wrong or why pople ot pset over it because they are too distracted by their electronic devices to think critically, logically, or rationally to see the bigger picture here.

I was heartened to see us win a battle. But, do not mistake, this was only a battle. The war will be a much longer, much harder slog. I fully expect to number among its dead.

I’d bet money that all the top conservative lawyers in the US will be piling on to handle this pro bono (for the publicity alone) and that they’ll get Bundy into a three-piece suit and up to speed on effective courtroom dress, deportment, and behavior before you can say, “Jack Robinson.”

You misspelled "Jim Robinson".

Very important lesson for bureaucrats:

Never mess with people who have nothing to lose.

Too lazy (or ideological and/or corrupt) to look for practical, common sense solutions for real problems of land, environment, ILLEGAL immigration, economics, education, defense, and every aspect of existence the government is slouching toward that crisis that Lincoln talked about that must be reached and passed to fix the house divided problem of two Americas.

“I hope so. Little 34 year-old Neil Kornze, the fresh out of the box director of BLM is holding on to the one million in back rents every time he opens his mouth.”

Land is protected because of a tortoise. However Bundy owes 1.3 million in back payments so his herd can graze on protected land.

Sounds like a lawsuit. A big lawsuit.
