Brent Bozell Letter to Majority Leader Eric Cantor Regarding MainStreet PAC
For America ^ | April 8, 2014 | L. Brent Bozell III

Dear Majority Leader Cantor:

Conservative leaders were stunned to learn that you will be headlining a conference in Florida this weekend that is, purely and simply, a direct attack on Tea Party conservatives. Worse still, this event is sponsored in part by ultra-liberal financier/activist George Soros and organized labor – both of which have openly, repeatedly – and often viciously – waged war on conservatives and Republicans for years.

What has possessed you to headline this event? Do you think so little of conservatives that you would directly insult them by attending?

Since Mitt Romney’s defeat in the 2012 presidential election a substantial rift has opened between the GOP’s congressional leadership and rank-and-file Republicans, grassroots conservatives and Tea Party supporters – the very activists who provided the energy, enthusiasm and mobilization that fueled the historic Republican victory in 2010 and gave you and your colleagues the House majority you hold today. You would not be Majority Leader today but for Tea Party conservatives. And you’re headlining an event sponsored by a leftist organization committed to its destruction.

As we head in to midterm elections later this year, it would seem incumbent upon Republican leaders to do everything they can to actually heal this rift. Instead you are widening it further.

It is our understanding that Speaker John Boehner had planned to attend but is no longer doing so. We expect no less from you. Attending this event shows you are siding with the Democrat donors, unions, and other Soros-backed groups who have contributed over $1 million to attack conservatives.

Your position makes you one of the top Republican leaders in the country and places extraordinary responsibility upon you to honor the commitments you made to those who worked so hard to provide Republicans the majority, and you the position of Majority Leader. Aligning yourself with extreme opponents of the Republican Party would be an astonishing turn of events — with consequences.

Mr. Leader: Don’t aid and abet sworn opponents of conservatives. If you do it will cause irreparable damage. If your position is that grassroots conservatives and Tea Party supporters no longer belong in the Republican Party then it will permanently destroy any credibility you have left with conservatives. Without conservatives the GOP will also collapse. Leader Cantor, back out of this event.

Sincerely,

L. Brent Bozell III

Chairman, ForAmerica

If this does take place, it looks like 3rd party will be the only way.

Too bad—thanks to you, Mitch.

Limelight-loving Eric Cantor Cantor, his consultant Ray Allen, and his Young Guns PAC, have conspired to "get conservatives"......becoming involved in local GOP politics to remove the right of conservatives to attend and vote in upcoming Republican conventions – a practice known as slating.

Cantor is also connected to the malodorous Main Street PAC. Steve LaTourette, a former Congreessman established his credentials as a "moderate"---and is now gainfully employed as a Main Street PAC lobbyist.

LaTourette has contracted the disease of duhversity, for which there is no known cure. He has stated that his goal is to "take out the Tea Party" and so-called "far-right Conservatives." His PAC has received donations from unions, Soros connected money, and even (ugh) Democrats.

thanks, should be given to the ineptitude of GOP (GOP/e) Washington District of Criminals; branch of Establishment Party.
They have squandered every chance/opportunity to oppose to the Executive Branch, thereby making it a virtual Dictatorship.

The Republican Party takes the conservative base for granted. No matter how viciously we're attacked by the Gopes for voicing our conservatism principles and for our commitment to the Constitution and traditional American values, the Gope leadership calculates that they have our vote anyway. And our voting history since Ronald Reagan supports that ... that we'll end up voting for any Republican over any Democrat-Socialist candidate.

I used to be that way ... and argued passionately on this board that we needed to cast our vote even for RINOs and Democrat-Socialist wannabes to stop the enemies of liberty from destroying our republic.

No more.

From the history of the past 25 years it's clear that this strategy is not working. That while our Constitution is being dismantled by the Democrat-Socialists the Republicans and Gopes -- with few notable exceptions -- defend the Constitution only when it's convenient or not too difficult to do so.

So, rather than voting for a third party or selectively not voting at all if the choice is between a Democrat-Socialist and a RINO/Gope -- both ineffective tactics -- I am considering that it would be better in the long run to vote for the Democrat-Socialist ... figuring that if America's decline accelerates more rapidly (which it will most certainly do under Democrat Party socialism), perhaps then the low-information voters and -- more importantly -- the people who are so busy earning money to pay America's bills (we taxpayers) that they don't have time to pay much attention to politics unless those policies affect them directly will finally notice America's accelerating decline and do something about it.

A risky venture for sure ... but continuing to vote for RINOs and Gopes with the hope they will stand up to the Democrat-Socialist Left sure isn't working!

Cantor might as well just go. He’s already revealed who he really is.

“A risky venture for sure ... but continuing to vote for RINOs and Gopes with the hope they will stand up to the Democrat-Socialist Left sure isn’t working!”

I tend to agree with you. If the Republicans had not gained control of the House in 2010, the American people would have endured 6 years of Democrat rule without Obama being able to blame Republican obstructionism in Congress. The Republicans in Congress have given him everything he wanted anyway so it would have been better to have Democrats in charge so the people would know where the pain is coming from.

At this point in the 2014 campaign the Republicans have no message other than
“we hate the Tea Party too.” It is clear the Democrats will rerun the “war on women” while also attacking the wealthy. If Republicans were serious they would have another “contract for America”. The absence of message suggests they are content with the status quo.

There are only two ways out of the mess. One is revolution and conditions are not yet bad enough for the American people walk away from their televisions and take to the streets. The other is to spend the next 4-6 years building a real third party from the ground up. Building a viable third party will take time and for the first few campaigns all it will do is split the Republican vote ensuring a Democrat win. Ultimately the people will hold them accountable.

“BTTT - Well put (and I love North Carolina ... especially the Asheville area!)”

I very much enjoy visiting Asheville. Great recreational activities in the surrounding mountains plus a nice arts and culture scene.

Unfortunately Asheville, the Research Triangle Area (Raliegh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Charlotte are the leftist enclaves in the state. Asheville, from a quality of life perspective, would be a great place to retire until the liberals eventually drive the taxes up to the point where it is no longer affordable.
