Anybody in the private sector that amassed that kind of wealth on that salary would have the IRS looking up their ass.
Can’t they make it up on insider trading?
hell, i’d pay them all minimum wage!
Things that make ya go hmmmm.
Moron isn’t running so he’s doing his part to pollute the public opinion of “congress” aka Republicans before the elections. There is no and there won’t be any resolution to increase pay this year.
Look for more of these tactics as time rolls by.. at least one a week from now until then. It will be opinion polls, it will be “revelations” about congressional republicans. The democrats are ramping up the oppo research staffs so expect to see stories about court filings mysteriously surfacing, parking tickets, property tax issues, credit card issues, student loan issues, gun ownership, college grades, personal business records etc, etc, etc...
I remember Ross Perot talking about congressional perks. He said they should have to pay for their own long term parking at the airport, fly coach and “eat lousy meals like the rest of us.” Nobody in congress liked hearing that.
It always pisses me off when I hear people complaining about their jobs as though they’re being force to work there.
You chose it so stop bing a cry baby.
When you retire how much will retirement money will you be getting for doing what you’re doing now - NOTHING.
You’ll be getting a lot more than the money I receive at $1800.00 + per month.
What a f’ing crybaby.
Then the SOB should get himself a RV camper in live in it like I did for two years on the job.
Lying worthless bastard.
Hey Moron, then go find a job in the private sector that pays $174,000
a year...plus all the vote buying and bribes you get under the table.
“Its expensive to live in Washington and $174,000 doesnt go very far. You have to maintain two offices, pay your staff and have two places to live.”
We are talking about his SALARY!!! All his ancillary expenses are covered under the House Budget. He doesn’t pay for any of what you have mentioned except a second residence, which in the case of Moron, since he reps a VA district may not be needed. If they all did their jobs, they would go home on the weekends and live in a dorm during the week.
Insider trading is legal for those guys!
Pass a law to enrich XYZZY Corp and buy a bunch of stock or futures I’m it
In this day and age, with the technology, they can work from their own districts.
House members should be made to work in a central county building in their districts and Senators from their state capitals. That way after repealing the 17th amendment, the state legislators wouldnt have far to go to haul the senate critters in to impeach the out of line senators, and the reps would have to dodge the rotten eggs chucked at them from the general public in their districts. The number one lobby would be the citizens of their districts and states.
Here’s a suggestion. Instead of raising pay, build old style college dormitories on Capitol Hill. Require the Congresscritters to live in the dorms, two to a room, while Congress is in session. The taxpayers will cover the cost of building and maintaining the dorms.. This will allow them to dispense with the cost of maintaining a home inside the beltway. Another advantage is they will all be equal in terms of housing while doing the people’s business. How could they possibly not like this concept?
Will the dorms be coed? Let them vote on the issue for our amusement.
Really, is that what you think in spite of the oath you took?
You make laws you do not have to abide by. Your pay should be expense only.
Asking for a pay raise just because you live there doesn’t scream “public service” at all.
Get Bent, Democrat tax-digger from hell.
That’s a great idea! Make sure the dorms have a nice bar with cheap drinks. Then maybe they’d spend more time screwing each other instead of us.
Doofus, if you don’t like the pay, don’t sign up for the job.
Boo Hoo a few years of frozen pay. Meanwhile many American citizens have had to deal with cuts in pay, no pay and no jobs, while searching for jobs, and adjusting to inflation due to the Feds money printing.
If their pay was based on performance, they would get zip, zero, nada.
