Prison escape will probably wind up as prison release as in Katrina, you can’t keep prisoners if you can’t guarantee their safety enmasse.

This is not a “wave”. It is raising the level of the ocean by 6 feet for a period of time. Even a 1 or 2 foot tsunami can cause damage to docks, etc. Six feet isn’t going to over run the entire town I suppose - but it will probably do lots of damage to the harbor facilities.

Rather, clocks run counterclockwise south of the equator.

And the sun rises in the west. It's weird down there.

None of that bothered me in Australia until I realized you turn the steering wheel left to go right.

I heard that ice floats in the bottom of a glass of water as well down there (or under). Is that true?

Six feet might sound tame, but that is an s-load of water sloshing around in a harbor in the middle of the night.

Thanks kingattax. Not as big as one would expect, or in some cases hope.

I believe we have had 12’ seas on top of high tide. The storms often hit at full moon.

Maine has pretty big tides.

I’ve seen a gangway with wheels attached to a floating dock, at high tide, it was practically level. At low tide, it was a pretty steep climb.

Maine has pretty big tides.

Bar Harbor had a 12.7' tide at 1:03 this morning, and a low tide of -1.3' at 7:22 AM.

The further Downeast you get, the higher the tides.

Yes, we are in the New Moon, when the pull on earth is the strongest, with sun and moon pulling from the same side. The full moon also tends to trigger earthquakes and volcanic activity. Here is another link for a more recent 7.8 down there.
