I believe we have had 12’ seas on top of high tide. The storms often hit at full moon.
Maine has pretty big tides.
I’ve seen a gangway with wheels attached to a floating dock, at high tide, it was practically level. At low tide, it was a pretty steep climb.
Bar Harbor had a 12.7' tide at 1:03 this morning, and a low tide of -1.3' at 7:22 AM.
The further Downeast you get, the higher the tides.
Yes, we are in the New Moon, when the pull on earth is the strongest, with sun and moon pulling from the same side. The full moon also tends to trigger earthquakes and volcanic activity. Here is another link for a more recent 7.8 down there.
