GOP primary voters won’t buy what the far right is peddling by Jennifer Rubin "Right Turn"
Washington Post ^ | March 20, 2014 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 03/21/2014 10:45:31 AM PDT by Innovative

Why are all these challengers bombing? A better question is, why did the D.C.-based right-wing groups and politicians like Rand Paul think these people were credible candidates? Perhaps it is the self-appointed protectors of conservative orthodoxy who are badly out of touch and entirely incompetent in vetting candidates. The good news for the GOP: Nearly all of these flaky figures will wipe out before the general election. They must do so if the GOP is to hold or grow the House majority and take back the Senate.

Before you have a knee-jerk reaction -- which is what I had when I first saw the title and read the article -- I recommend reading the entire article, take a second look and stop and think.

I think the problem is not "the far right" and this is the point the author is trying to make -- the problem is that some take advantage, questionable candidates declare themselves "conservatives" and run under that guise, when in fact they are flakes.

While obviously there are many terrific conservative candidates, conservatives need to be more selective before lining up behind someone, just because they declare themselves conservative.

Jennifer Rubin has been, is, and will be(more than likely) forever a shill for the GOP-E.

Anything she writes should be read in the context that she is a GOP-E Trojan Horse and is propped up by the Washington Post as their type of “conservative”.

Jennifer Rubin is a conservative columnist — her articles never have anything to do with feminism.

I read the article and I can safely conclude Rubin is nuts.

She thinks Rand Paul is far right?

Nuts. Bleeping Nuts.

On the other hand we have had some lulus who have run under the tea party label. Their weakness’s of curse are exagerated by the MSM but that is expected. Now we are having a problem running tea party candidates and getting them nominated because we got burned several times and people who would otherwise support them are afraid to vote for them. We must do a better job of vetting on that score sheis right.

I think people are still missing the author’s message. She is NOT “bashing conservatives”.

Her point is that with so many legitimate, “fool-proof” conservatives around, why aren’t conservatives vetting their candidates better and why are they just supporting anyone who claims to be conservatives, regardless of their past and baggage that makes them unelectable in the general elections.

“Perhaps it is the self-appointed protectors of conservative orthodoxy who are badly out of touch and entirely incompetent in vetting candidates.”

Exactly. You do get the point and both Jennifer, you and I are correct. Let’s hope conservatives/ tea party/etc. will wake up and see reality and adjust their strategy.

See my tagline.

Leftists don’t engage is such futile introspection every time a left-wing candidate loses an election, and neither should we.

“Whacko candidates” deserve to be defeated. It’s sad to see certain prominent conservative figures backing some wackos!

If they start talking about stuff in the water and a conspiracy by “those others” to oppress you by vaccinations ... it’s time to call the white coats — and not back them for some political office!

The real question is “Do we want to win, or just prefer whining after the elections, when the Dems win?”

Aren’t you were supposed to be fetching towels for Karl Rove and Reince Priebus right now? Are you on a break?

Because people are deeply disappointed and frustrated with people like Mitch McConnell and don’t know what else to do.
I’m glad that I didnt live in a state like Delaware or wherever Christine O’Donnell was from. I would not have wanted to support Castle but would not have wanted to be a party to getting the Democrat elected(what ended up happening, I think).
Where I live we don’t have this dilemma, because we don’t have Republican senators to begin with, or in the districts I usually live in. Congresspeople. We would probably support any Republican of any type because that would be the only Republican.

Democrats don’t spend their time attacking each other; they reserve all their invective for the other party. If we really wanted to win, we’d do the same.

Cornyn won over a couple of candidates with no money.

Where is the “wipe out” Rubin is referring to? What Tea Party conservatives have lost against major incumbents except for the two penniless ones against Cornyn?

And why does Rubin omit the Tea Party victories at the state level in Texas?

Or the recent victory by Tea Party candidate Wagner against the GOPe backed candidate?

I don’t see any sort of trouncing of conservatives or Tea Party conservatives that Rubin is referring to.

Rubin is blowing hot foul air with no facts.

“Aren’t you were supposed to be fetching towels for Karl Rove and Reince Priebus right now? Are you on a break?”

Because it worked so well for us in 2012? We put up some real doozies for senate in an election we needed to desperately win. Take the senate, then the conservatives can go after impeachment. The GOPe that don’t want to impeach are the ones to go after in 2016.

The Tea Party won more races than Karl Rove and John Cornyn in 2012. Your hero Karl Rove should refund all the money he stole from the donors to Crossroads GPS and American Crossroads. Your RINO overlords wasted $300 million dollars and had a return on investment of about 1%. Don’t lecture us on electibility, RINO.
