I think the problem is not "the far right" and this is the point the author is trying to make -- the problem is that some take advantage, questionable candidates declare themselves "conservatives" and run under that guise, when in fact they are flakes.
While obviously there are many terrific conservative candidates, conservatives need to be more selective before lining up behind someone, just because they declare themselves conservative.
Jennifer Rubin has been, is, and will be(more than likely) forever a shill for the GOP-E.
Anything she writes should be read in the context that she is a GOP-E Trojan Horse and is propped up by the Washington Post as their type of “conservative”.
Ahhh, another feminazi heard from. They are the gift that keeps on giving, are they not?

I read the article and I can safely conclude Rubin is nuts.
She thinks Rand Paul is far right?
Nuts. Bleeping Nuts.
More pig-ignorant RINO swill.
On the other hand we have had some lulus who have run under the tea party label. Their weakness’s of curse are exagerated by the MSM but that is expected. Now we are having a problem running tea party candidates and getting them nominated because we got burned several times and people who would otherwise support them are afraid to vote for them. We must do a better job of vetting on that score sheis right.
I think people are still missing the author’s message. She is NOT “bashing conservatives”.
Her point is that with so many legitimate, “fool-proof” conservatives around, why aren’t conservatives vetting their candidates better and why are they just supporting anyone who claims to be conservatives, regardless of their past and baggage that makes them unelectable in the general elections.
“Perhaps it is the self-appointed protectors of conservative orthodoxy who are badly out of touch and entirely incompetent in vetting candidates.”
Leftists don’t engage is such futile introspection every time a left-wing candidate loses an election, and neither should we.
“Whacko candidates” deserve to be defeated. It’s sad to see certain prominent conservative figures backing some wackos!
If they start talking about stuff in the water and a conspiracy by “those others” to oppress you by vaccinations ... it’s time to call the white coats — and not back them for some political office!
Cornyn won over a couple of candidates with no money.
Where is the “wipe out” Rubin is referring to? What Tea Party conservatives have lost against major incumbents except for the two penniless ones against Cornyn?
And why does Rubin omit the Tea Party victories at the state level in Texas?
Or the recent victory by Tea Party candidate Wagner against the GOPe backed candidate?
I don’t see any sort of trouncing of conservatives or Tea Party conservatives that Rubin is referring to.
Rubin is blowing hot foul air with no facts.
We fight with the army we have, surrender monkeys notwithstanding.
That's asking an awful lot. It's much more fun to rant.
We need more Ted Cruz candidates and less Sharron Angle candidates. I ahree with GOP-E on the Angle types. What GOP-E doesn’t get is that they have some crappy candidates as well. Tommy Thompson, Pete Hoekstra, and Connie Mack come to mind.
Nothing like the leftie post telling me about why I should vote for someone they like
And you and yours need to be more selective before lining up behind GOP incumbents and GOPe anointed ones, just because they declare themselves "winnable."
They’re peddling fiscal sanity beotch.
Rubin contends that all GOP candidates are Conservative and the most established & anointed ones must be supported. What she misses is that GOP does not always mean Conservative; THAT is the very reason there is a Tea Party! IF the GOP was opposing the Leftists THEN there would be no Tea Party!
To hell with Rubin & the GOP establishment she shills for.
The writer makes no mention of the incumbents, wacky, flaky, traitorous, anti-American efforts to oppose the constitution and freedoms of constituents.
Sorry, I meant to post the post below on THIS thread, just went back to the Reagan quote thread to get the quote right.

Problem is that the author, Jenn Rubin, is a liberal pretending to be a Conservative, and really has no idea about what she is talking about, only wishful thinking.
