(Reuters) - President Barack Obama has told the Pentagon to prepare for the possibility that the United States will not leave behind any troops in Afghanistan after its troop drawdown at the end of this year, the White House said on Tuesday.

Obama conveyed the message in a phone call to Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, who has been balking at signing a bilateral security agreement that the United States insists it must have before agreeing to leave a contingent of troops behind for counter-terrorism operations and training.

Obama is a perfect 0-2 on Status of Forces agreements. Tell me again? Why was it necessary “surge” forces into Afghanistan if we weren’t going to accomplish anything lasting? Nice job, Barak!

How long before Karzai either 1) flees in exile to Europe with a whole lot of money that he likely stole from us, or 2) is brutally killed in a coup by pro-Taliban forces?

“President Barack Obama has told the Pentagon to prepare for the possibility that the United States will not leave behind any troops”

Hey and with gays now open to serve in the military he has essentially said, “you never have to leave your buddy’s behind.” So, yeah.

Foreign policy the reason why Mrs. Clinton will not win the Dem primary nor the GOP win Presidency.

Inflicting defeat on the US in the war on terror was always Obama's job #1.

The Taliban takeover of Afghanistan will be seen correctly as another enormous defeat for the US, and (just like Vietnam) one inflicted by the Democratic party, the largest criminal organization in the world.

Modified #1: Karzai bugs out to Monaco to lie on the beach with scantily-clad infidel women and a boatload of cash - and the Talibs get their old offices in Kabul back, complete with indoor plumbing and satellite TV.

That's rhetorical isn't it? It was obviously just political cover through the next election. Dead servicemen never came into the equation.

That was pretty much what I envisioned. Then he’ll either live the quiet life and enjoy his ill-gotten wealth or he’ll be a constant force on the international news circuit as some kind of authority on human rights or international interventions or some such crap.

I think both may happen at some point real soon after we leave.

Isnt it a bit late for that? We should have considered our way BEFORE going in. Now that promises have been made we run out on our allies and those looking to us for protection. In short we’ve lost all trust.

Who gives a dam most of our Allies are gone. Our men are dying for no reason. We should pack up and leave. We will never change that place.

Mrs. Clinton will not win the Dem primary

Given the liberal slant of the repugnant party, I'd say the Rats could run a turnip and win. Don't count out the beast just yet.

The complete exit of our troops leaves the radicals in Pakistan well positioned to play nuke games with India. The appeasement money we have paid to keep the weapons under our supervision will have no enforcement teeth. I love the smell of iodine-131 in the morning...not that it would be much different from the continuous spew from Fukushima.

So....I’m just wondering what THE PICTURE will be evidencing this. Recall the last day of South Viet Nam as a free country - the helicopter briefly resting on the rooftop shack atop the US Embassy, desperate refugees waiting to board....
