I used to live there in Arizona. Many of the illegals are good people and I hope we can help them. There must be some set of things the US can ask them to do to get on the path to the right side of US law. Like enroll on the tax list. Like file an income tax and pay back taxes. Get provisional okay to become a US Citizen...see what I mean? There must be some things they can do to START becoming good citizens.

They did not come here to become citizens.
Most that are here illegally could care less if they become citizens or not.

A neighbor, good friend, broke into my house and ate all my food, used my car, stole my identity, trashed my house and ran up huge bills that were assigned to me to pay.

There must be something I could do, you and I, to get him on the path to the right side of US law. As you know, he as a citizen is subject to existing law - which will take care of him. He’ll be arrested, tried and convicted and serve a sentence - one that will brand him forever and take away many of the rights lawful citizens have like voting and owning guns.

The fact is, by his very nature of violating my trust AND THE EXISTING LAW like that automatically tells me his ISN’T a good citizen. Even with imprisonment, restitution I, maybe you too, could never trust him.

The above is a different slant, not true in my case, but it happens in this country and the punishments and consequences are real.

IOW, I don’t buy your argument, and your feelings that ‘they are good’ people does not compensate me for them having violated my country’s sovereignty, invaded our schools, squandered our resources, et al. It further does not explain the chasm of a disconnect between ‘changing the law for them’ but not for a criminal citizen here.

I appreciate your sentiments, but...time and again, I am impressed with sentiments of these "good people" being different from yours and mine. They come across as being willfully indifferent to outright hostile towards Americans.

Screw that! I will be far more inclined to send Juan and Juanita a care package when they are in their own country rather than being forced via government to support, feed and tolerate them as invaders in this country.

"Good people" who violated our laws by entering illegally, committing ID theft, stealing SSNs, working illegally, evading taxes, lying on employment forms, etc. Many of these are felonies.

The only way they get on the right side of the law is to get out. We need to help our own citizens and legal residents of this country. When you reward something, you get more of it. Paying back taxes is a cheap price of entry into this country while millions of intending immigrants who played by the rules and are awaiting their turn to enter remain in hellholes while we confer benefits on the lawbreakers. BS.

Those good people snuck across our border like thieves in the night. Or paid coyotes. Or deliberately overstayed visas. Are they working here? If so, whose identity did they steal in order to do so? If they're not working, then they must be taking other taxpayer-funded benefits to which they're not entitled. Are their kids in the public schools? Do they have driver's licenses, or do they drive without them? Do they have medical insurance, or do they use the emergency room for their medical care?

Nobody who does all those things is a "good person."

“I used to live there in Arizona. Many of the illegals are good people and I hope we can help them. “

I currently live in Arizona. There are too many illegals sponging off the system. We are paying too much for schools and hospitals to give them a free ride.

My wife is an immigrant - a LEGAL immigrant. She has family in the Philippines who would be glad to come to the USA, but then....Filipinos are expected to come LEGALLY, as are all the other “good people” who want to move to the US. I fail to see why Mexicans are given preferential treatment to the Chinese, Filipinos, Nigerians, etc.

“There must be some set of things the US can ask them to do to get on the path to the right side of US law.”

Yes. LEAVE. Then apply for LEGAL entry. Live by the same rules EVERY OTHER COUNTY’S CITIZENS live by!

I live in Arizona and most of the illegals are not good people. They sre people who lie, steal, take identities and jobs, fight, drive drunk, and hate Americans and. America. Many are bankrolled in their wish to get here. And in the case of Mexicans they still have a home to go back to. We can have compassionate hearings for the sick and thr kids, but the rest should go back to a booming Mexico.

That said, I know the border and the only way to close it is to fine employers harshly with enforced e-verify. It is impossible to physically completely close.

They are coming like ants sgain. I was behind a truck which came out of desert i middle of had back open and clothes thrown over them. wiggling people.

That is correct. I would like to find a way to help people who come to work. When they decide their preferred occupation is robbing and killing, then I'm all for deporting them, after they face the harshest of penalties, which in some cases means we send them back in a body bag. If it's prison, it needs to be like the prison back home, otherwise it's just a vacation from poverty.
