Yes, but only while we are using. I’m recovered. I’m swell now.

Yeah, I only buy that if it is a person who is constant in his bad behavior....men like Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Gerry Studds.

Everyone screws up, and everyone has a chance to get their heart and mind right. The evidence for this guy is that he was caught in a sting, genuinely repented, and immediately took steps to rectify the situation.

The voters ought to get to decide if he should stay. This isn’t what happened....the establishment shoved him out.

I still remember when the establishment GOP in D.C. and Florida tried to clear the deck for their chosen man in the Senate—Charlie Crist. But the VOTERS told them to shove it, and we removed a RINO from the party.

In this case, the GOP-E won.

Plenty of barely functional drunks in DC as well.

Hmmm, interesting. Could this be brought about by the Chicago Way?

"No felony, he repented, but the GOP-e did not want this Tea Party man in Congress. So he got punted by the leadership, just like Allen West."

I wouldn't make any comparisons with Allen West. Yes, they both got abandoned or worse by the GOPe, but to generalize the two together does a great disservice to Allen West.

“I’m sorry, but I could not support someone in political office who is an admitted felon.”

So if they lied and hid they were a felon it it would be better?

My thinking is that the majority of us are probably all un-prosecuted felons of some sort. You saying that you do not believe in redemption and restoration? You’re that righteous? Just curious.

I am not defending the guy he needs to go. I just don’t think past behavior is always a predictor of future behavior. Yet without a life changing event it is usually the the best one.

Did he repent AFTER he got caught?

He should resign. We would be appalled if he were a Democrat and did not resign. He took cocain while in office, end of story.

Good riddance to him, but I'm actually fairly surprised that "Republican" isn't in the title of the article.

As in, "Conservative Republican Trey Radel, a Republican from Florida, resigned after the Republican was arrested for cocaine use by a Conservative.".

Whereas, you can read a stack of newspaper articles about Dems in trouble and never find a single mention of their party affiliation.

Yep, me too, even at the highest, or lowest, of positions, depending on one’s perspective of course.
