The government required people to register their guns, insisting it was for their own protection, a way of tracking down criminals that was supposed to cut down on crime.
In reality, however, it was merely a ruse to track down those patriots who might resist the coming tyranny.
So explains Kitty Werthmann in a speech going viral on the Internet, a story of her life in Austria right before the Nazi occupation of her home country in 1938. As she explains, her nations surrender to Nazi tyranny didnt begin with the Anschluss, but with little steps like acquiescing to gun-control laws:
Dictatorship didnt happen overnight. I took five years, gradually, little by little, to escalate up to a dictatorship, she said. When the people fear the government, thats tyranny. When the government fears the people, thats you, thats liberty. Keep your guns, keep your guns and buy more guns!
Werthmanns speech, delivered at the Let Freedom Ring tea-party rally in Woodstown, N.J., on June 28, 2011, has been frequently circulated via YouTube and other online channels for years, but picked up steam again after the National Rifle Association reposted it recently under the title Hitler Survivor Condemns Gun Control.
The clear implication in her speech is that modern-day Americans should beware gun-control laws that strip them of their ability to resist an overbearing government.
In 1938, the media reported that Hitler rolled into Austria with tanks and guns and took us over. Not true at all, she said. The Austrian people elected Hitler by 98 percent of the vote, by means of the ballot box.
You might ask, How could a Christian nation
elect a monster like Hitler? she concinued. The truth is, at the beginning Hitler didnt look like or talk like a monster at all. He talked

HAHAHAHA! You made me laugh...actually make a sound of laughing. Not easy on a Sunday morning!
THANKS.
A meme is worth a thousand words.
Somebody in CT has to be enough of a smartazz to plop down a package of Wrigley’s and tell them they want to register their gum...
Our church works at a local soup kitchen/food bank. The other week, one of our men saw a couple park their brand new Caddie down the street and walk up and eat the free meal, then get their bags of free food. They then walk back to the Caddie and drive off. You know what I am saying. If you can afford a brand new Caddie, you can afford your own food.
My adoptive mom grew up in Austria during WW2, and I’ve heard the story many times, when the nazis came to their village and asked “who has the guns?”, friends and neighbors they’d known all their lives immediately pointed to her father’s house.
But we'll be friends through thick or thin.....
I'm afraid there would be even more of that in the good ol' USA when the gun grab goes into effect.
The 4473 completed for the NICs system is required to be kept on file by the seller damn near forever and the BATFE can inspect those records on demand.
While it does not account for private transfers after the initial purchase, it does amount to de facto registration.
I have had the FBI come to me years after a purchase to inquire about a weapon I had bought and subsequently sold. they had the 4473 in hand
What good are having guns if you never put them to their intended use?
When the noose is around your neck, it’s too late to feel good about the knife in your pocket...
Ummm.... I bet many loyalist sycophants in Obama's "Civilian National Security Force" are thinking the same thing.
And let me be the first to say, "their intended use is legal and lawful handling, storing, acquiring and utilization."
Now as for the 2nd Amendment, we all know it's to protect and preserve the other 9 Amendments in the Bill of Rights, as well as the rest of the Constitution.
Too early or too late? That's the conundrum. Timing is everything and hindsight is always 20/20. It's definitely not a good idea to be too early or too late. Americans traditionally err on the tardy side.
People are still watching, praying and trying to use the Constitution (in spite of the politicians) to get America on track. That's what I'm doing and I encourage others to do the same.
Oh, and don't forget to buy more guns and ammo! :)
Aye, Fast and Furious proves that.
The NSA-spying proves they don't care about constitutional law either.
The IRS-targeting proves they will use every method to stymie those whose political ideologies the ruling caste does not agree with.
In short, it's highly likely that they already have a database (or equivalent) that they will exploit when/if TSHTF.
We’re at a tipping point right now. From here, we don’t get any stronger than we are as they continue to chip away daily....
And that is far worse than any NSA call detail record storage.
No, it was not - but there is little doubt that 1) German Austria was always - ALWAYS - part of the region called "Germany", and 2) Once the Empire was dismantled, leaving a small German rump state, anschluss was overwhelmingly popular.
Furthermore, the region of German Austria punched well above its weight in Nazi theory and Nazi practice. German Austria contributed much more than its share of Nazi leaders and Nazi butchers.
In 1945, the decision to undo the anschluss and to declare German Austria "Hitler's first victim" was a godsend for Germans living in German Austria.
In many ways, they got away with murder.
