MARTIN BASHIR: Last Friday, on this broadcast, I made some comments which were deeply offensive and directed at Governor Sarah Palin. I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin and to also offer an unreserved apology to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers, and anyone who may have heard what I said.
My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate, nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics, and they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said. And at a place where we try every day to elevate political discourse and to focus on issues that matter to all of us.
In the battle of ideas, America leads the world in whole-hearted discussions and disagreements and these arguments can be heard on a daily basis. But what I did on Friday had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with that great tradition and I am deeply sorry.

I wonder what prompted that.
Out of curiosity, has FoxNews even mentioned this slimey, vile attack on Palin? Usually, when MSNBC makes an utter fool of itself, FoxNews likes to jump in and give them some well-earned jabs. Given that Palin is also a FoxNews contributor, it would seem an even greater excuse.
Or is this just yet another in a long line of instances in which attacks on Palin are somehow, peculiarly, deemed not meriting a defense?
Like all liberals, he has Bashir has shown exactly what they are made of. Crude, obnoxious and stupid all rolled into one. He WILL pay for his remarks, of that I am certain.
It’s my understanding, several complaints were filed to the FCC.
We are eagerly awaiting his resignation. This is not the first time that Bashir has overstepped his position.
An evidence of Twitter power. He got trashed all over it after these vile remarks. Might have spooked the top dogs at the network. I doubt Bashir cares. He’s a worm.
My thoughts, too. The guy is a sniveling, socialist worm but he didn't wiggle in his apology. I wonder who said what to him to make him see the light?
That completely offensive statement of bias should be the end of his career
Bingo and it ain’t over till it’s over.
—beyond the pale I mean.—
Hey!! That’s racist!
Thank you.
You're still fired.
I hope he’s removed from the airways!
I think he was told to make this apology..
I can understand why leftists go deranged over Sarah Palin, they have elevated idiots like Nancy Pelosi & Hillary Clinton.
That is because the words were written for him, and his only option was to read them.
Very likely. Who ever wrote them did a great job leaving out all the usual excuses, weasel words and qualifiers.
Good thing nobody on the Miami dolphins talked like this. We would never hear the end of it
I think he was told what could happen. At the very least a fine. What human being would even think of something like that.He doesn’t sound normal.

I'm not defending him, but he clearly mentions to whom he is apologizing. We shouldn't come to decisions based on half-truths that are easily refuted and make us look silly.
Another pansy who is afraid of a strong woman. Lib fool.
