MARTIN BASHIR: Last Friday, on this broadcast, I made some comments which were deeply offensive and directed at Governor Sarah Palin. I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin and to also offer an unreserved apology to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers, and anyone who may have heard what I said.
My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate, nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics, and they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said. And at a place where we try every day to elevate political discourse and to focus on issues that matter to all of us.
In the battle of ideas, America leads the world in whole-hearted discussions and disagreements and these arguments can be heard on a daily basis. But what I did on Friday had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with that great tradition and I am deeply sorry.

Just another day at MSNBC. Why apologize?
In a sane world this person would never work in TV again
He sounds foreign.
This alien should be deported. “Apology” not accepted, you subhuman moron.
...”Funny isnt it, that he still has his show, but Baldwins is suspended for allegedly making a gay slur.
Saying someone should be all but drowned in human waste is a whole lot worse than calling someone a bad name.
Vile, vile man. Vile, vile network”...
I would add evil to vile.
I notice that Bashir never mentions Sarah Palin and I seriously doubt that is a benign ommission. His apology is without equivocation but by never mentioning who he offended and what he actually said it still falls short of being completely acceptable.
Now there's a load of crap in our faces. B.S. Bashir.
Apology accepted. Please gather your things and leave the building immediately.
Why would Bashed-ear want to smear himself over someone he despises?
He’s not worthy to lick the heels of SP’s muddy hunting boots fresh with moose manure. On the other hand, well maybe he iS.
I will be gracious and accept it.
I suspect Sarah will do the same.
“My words....have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network.”
At MSNBC? That’s impossible, none of you have any concept of shame. If you did, you wouldn’t work there.
I don’t care what he says or if he apologizes, but I agree with you. The apology was appropriately stated, I reserve judgment on its sincerity.
Deport the worthless b@stard. Now!
That guy is so twisted and sick that he would probably...., never mind. I don’t want to get kicked out of here.
Words, words, word - they mean nothing at all. This man revealed how deeply mentally ill he is. As Michael Savage reminds us repeatedly: Liberalism is a mental disease. Bashir went out there to shockingly prove it. What does it say about a Society that goes, Ho Hum...at least the crazy wacko apologized — What he and his ilk are doing is dehumanizing the Opposition - another play out of Alinsky. He did the damage. Who gives a royal flip if he gave a phoney apology. Fired?? No, Martin needs to be hospitalized. If it weren’t for FR, I wouldn’t even know what this despicable person said because my tv never has MSNBC on even for a second.
Maybe it’s time someone take a Cleveland Steamer on him, course he’d probably like that.
Insult Christian woman using the most vile description imaginable...make insincere apology, keep your show.
“They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics,”
But typical and not unexpected from the human scum of MSNBC.
