MARTIN BASHIR: Last Friday, on this broadcast, I made some comments which were deeply offensive and directed at Governor Sarah Palin. I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin and to also offer an unreserved apology to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers, and anyone who may have heard what I said.
My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate, nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics, and they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said. And at a place where we try every day to elevate political discourse and to focus on issues that matter to all of us.
In the battle of ideas, America leads the world in whole-hearted discussions and disagreements and these arguments can be heard on a daily basis. But what I did on Friday had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with that great tradition and I am deeply sorry.

Because NOBODY writes to the advertiser(s)?
Yes, he did. I overlooked it. My mistake. However, Martin Bashir is still a nasty leftist hack.
>> Why is he still on the air?
Because not enough canceled their Comcast subscriptions.
Heck, at MSNBC, you put that on your resume.
I used to work under a supervisor who behaved like an absolute jackass. He would try to apologize by saying, "I know I'm an asshole." To which I could only respond, "If you know you're an asshole, why do you continue to behave like one?"
More satire?.........................
I hate this Bashir fag but, I gotta say, THAT was a pretty good apology. No ifs ands or buts about it.
Somebody must have told him she just might be the next president of the United States. Then the IRS will be under her control................
I listened to his apology, and it is a real apology rather than the typical non-apology most liberals make which typically boils down to “I’m really sorry I caused myself some problems by something I said or did”.
What this guy said was truly beyond the pail even by most liberal standards. He responded to Palin’s use of the term “slavery” when describing the consequences of the enormous debt being passed to our posterity. He tried to put her down by saying she had no idea what slavery was and then used the diary of Thistlewood to describe some of the horrific abuses that slave owner carried out.
Now this is a straw man because Palin was not comparing the financial burden to the specific abuses against blacks in this nation, and especially was not at all comparing the type of suffering some slaves endured, such as those Thistlewood described.
But here is clincher: Bashir then essentially states that Palin deserves the type of treatment Thistlewood recorded doing to his slaves.
This is the ultimate leftist hypocrisy. Thistlewood was an evil, evil man for doing the things he did. Bashir is essentially saying that Thistlewood’s crimes against humans are acceptable as long as they are performed on someone who deserves them, like Palin.
The whole moral argument against the practice of slavery in this nation is that the acts of men like Thistlewood are inhumane and never morally justified even if they are employed on men who are total savages such as the cannibals that populated Africa and America in those days.
But I think Bashir represents the deep-rooted hatred the left has toward Judeo-Christian values and those who hold them. Many of the American-Indian tribes conquered and destroyed here were savages. Some were cannibals. Some kept harems of little boys for sex slaves. Likewise, many of the black slaves the early white settlers in this nation bought came from similar savagery. This also applies to many of the Central and South American natives conquered by the Spanish.
Apparently today, leftists feel sympathetic toward the sexual and moral proclivities of these groups and revulsion and hatred toward the moral and religious beliefs of the founders and of the right. They do not really have a problem with the inhumane behavior toward blacks and Indians as much as they just think it was applied to the wrong people.
When the purge comes to this nation of men who believe and talk like Bashir, hopefully people will refrain from inhumane behavior like this and simply apply a swiftly carried out execution. Unfortunately there are always some bad apples who will use war or other chaos as an opportunity to steal, murder, rape and torture. When civil war comes, I hope these abuses are minimal on both sides, but it is rather likely to happen again. My suspicion is that it will come primarily from those aligned with the left.
They hate them all as well, but only she has a shot the the presidency.................Liberals ALWAYS tell you who they are most afraid of...................
That's a question only time can answer. Let's see how well he lives the whole thing down.
Deport him to Mexico.
Agreed. At least it sounds like the most genuine apology I may have ever heard. Of course, what he originally said was also among the most extreme offenses as well.
“There were a couple of articles today quoting Baldwin as saying his show is done.”
Oh, well that could be.
I had the misfortune to be watching daytime TV today and heard this discussed on “The Talk”, but I missed the beginning of the discussion.
I actually thought one woman made a good point, applicable to Baldwin, Bashir and really anyone.
She said there are so many good insulting words you can use to express anger or disagreement with someone, why resort to dreadful language that just turns everyone off.
Do we know if he’s gay? It seems that only a really gay activist is capable of this kind of thinking. Particular when it comes to passing excrement.
Poor Sarah, Todd and her children.
“beyond the pale” I mean.
No one but Sarah Palin can accept, or reject, Bashir’s apology.
It is just natural for people on the left to use foul language...in the conservative south, I only heard the 'f' word once. Here in pagan Red Hampshire, I hear it from neighbors on all side of me; I hear it from very young children; I hear it from the elderly. I hate to leave the house.
